Michael Roberts News
The Green Bay Packers waived tight end Michael Roberts (shoulder) with a failed physical on Wednesday less than a week after he was cut by the Lions following a voided trade to the Patriots. The 25-year-old landed on Injured Reserve last year with the shoulder injury and has appeared in 23 games for the Lions with 13 catches for 146 yards and three touchdowns after being a fourth-round pick in 2017. He can go on being ignored in fantasy leagues even if he latches on for good with another squad.
Detroit Lions tight end Michael Roberts reverted back to the Lions on Friday after the Patriots tried to acquire him in a trade. Roberts failed his physical and has now been waived by the Lions. The 25-year-old was a fourth-round pick in 2017 and had just nine catches for 100 yards and three touchdowns in eight games due to injuries in 2018 with Detroit. It remains to be seen if he'll resurface with another team, but even if he does he won't be on the fantasy radar.
Detroit Lions tight end Michael Roberts must prove he belongs on the roster this offseason after the team added veterans at the position in free agency and drafted rookies as well. Jesse James and Logan Thomas were added in free agency and T.J. Hockenson (first round) and Isaac Nauta were taken in the draft. Roberts, a fourth-rounder in 2017, has largely been a non-factor in the NFL so far. He caught nine passes for 100 yards and three touchdowns in eight games in 2018 and ended the year injured. Hockenson and James are the clear-cut starters at tight end, but Detroit could use a lot of three-tight end sets, which could include Roberts. Roberts is the best red-zone weapon of the group, but he should be off fantasy radars unless an injury hits either Hockenson or James.
