New England Patriots running back Sony Michel carried the ball 29 times for 113 yards with two touchdowns in the Patriots 37-31 victory over the Chiefs to reach the Super Bowl. The rookie running back was fantastic from the jump and the Patriots leaned on him to move the chains. Michel punched in a 1-yard score to get New England on the board and then sprinted untouched for a 10-yard score in the fourth quarter. Michel is hot at the right time and will have tons of sleeper potential as a possible Super Bowl MVP heading into the Patriots matchup against the Rams on February 3.
New England Patriots running back Sony Michel carried the ball 24 times for 129 yards with three touchdowns in the Patriots 41-28 win over the Chargers. Michel was fed early and often, posting all three of his scores in the first half as the Patriots blew the game open. He became only the second Patriot rookie running back in franchise history to score a touchdown in the postseason and the offense was humming with Michel in the center of the action. The Patriots feature a Hall of Fame quarterback but the offense is at its best when Michel is healthy and getting the lion's share of the carries. Despite the fantastic performance, Michel will be only the third ranked running back in DFS tournaments behind the Rams Todd Gurley and the Saints Alvin Kamara heading into championship weekend next week in the NFL.
New England Patriots running back Sony Michel will go up against a Chargers defense in the playoffs this weekend that allowed the 10th most fantasy points to running backs during the regular season. The rookie running back racked up 931 rushing yards with six touchdowns in 13 games played this season. Michel struggled staying healthy to begin the season but averaged 17.1 carries and 79.6 rushing yards a game over his last six contests. The key to the Patriots success this weekend will be a productive running game so Michel should see plenty of carries early and often. Michel could easily crack the top-5 among running backs in fantasy this weekend among the eight teams left in the playoffs.
