Ed Oliver News
Buffalo Bills defensive lineman Ed Oliver lines up against a weak New York Jets offensive line in Week 11, and Oliver should be a strong start in IDP leagues. Oliver has made 5.0 sacks and eight QB hits this season. In his first matchup against the Jets in Week 1, Oliver made three tackles, six total pressures, and half a sack. The Jets' offensive line has declined since then due to a combination of injuries and poor play. PFF rates the Jets' line as the worst in the league. In the past five weeks, they have been allowing a double-digit sack rate. Consider starting Ed Oliver in IDP leagues with two or more starting DL positions. He is an especially strong start in leagues with DT-specific starters required.
Buffalo Bills defensive tackle Ed Oliver has made two sacks in the first three weeks of this season, but fantasy managers should think twice before starting him in a tough Week 4 matchup against the Miami Dolphins. The Dolphins have only allowed a single sack all season, fewer than any other team. Not only do the Dolphins have a strong offensive line, QB Tua Tagovailoa excels at getting rid of the football quickly. His time to throw is the fastest of any starting quarterback. Ed Oliver faces long odds to make another sack in Week 4.
According to Adam Schefter of ESPN, defensive tackle Ed Oliver agreed to a four-year, $68 million ($45 million guaranteed) extension with the Bills. The 2019 No. 9 overall pick totaled 151 tackles (96 solo), 14.5 sacks, 11 passes defensed, and four forced fumbles in his first four seasons as a professional (62 games). He would have been playing on the fifth year of his rookie deal. However, Oliver will stay in Buffalo, where he's expected to remain a vital component of a potent Bills defense.
