Jonah Williams News
The Arizona Cardinals are expected to sign Cincinnati Bengals free-agent offensive tackle Jonah Williams to a two-year deal worth $30 million, according to sources. The announcement comes just after the Cardinals released previous starting left tackle D.J. Humphries. Williams was considered one of the top offensive tackles on the open market this offseason, so this is a big win for Arizona's offense. The 26-year-old should now slot in as the team's starting right tackle to help protect quarterback Kyler Murray. Williams was taken with the 11th overall pick in 2019 out of Alabama, and he started all 59 games he played in for the Bengals the last four years, including 17 at right tackle in 2023.
Cincinnati Bengals offensive tackle Jonah Williams, who requested a trade in the offseason after the team signed Orlando Brown Jr. to play left tackle, reported to mandatory minicamp last week despite his frustration with the team. "The plan is to play me at right tackle," Williams said. "I'm fired up to do it. Let's go, I'm working my knee. I think I'm going to be cleared soon. I feel great moving around and so that was never the issue." He also said he'll be ready to go for Day 1 of training camp in late July after having surgery in February for a dislocated kneecap that he suffered in the wild-card round of the playoffs. The former first-rounder isn't happy with the front office, but he has shown up this offseason and is ready to play in 2023.
The Cincinnati Bengals have had trade talks centered around left tackle Jonah Williams. A Williams trade is expected at this point after the Bengals signed left tackle Orlando Brown Jr. to a big deal in free agency this offseason. Williams has been Cincy's starting left tackle for the last several years, but he requested a trade earlier this offseason and is likely to have his wish granted eventually. There's a possibility that he could move to right tackle, although it's not his preference. It's hard to find a good and dependable left tackle in the NFL, so there is real interest in Williams around the league. No trade is imminent as of right now, but that could change in a hurry.
