The New England Patriots re-signed kicker Stephen Gostkowski to an undisclosed two-year deal on Tuesday, NFL Network's Michael Giardi reported. The 35-year-old said his "first choice" was to return to New England, where he has spent his whole career. He was a fourth-round pick in 2006 and has 1,743 career regular season points with an 87.4 percentage of kicks made. He's a two-time All-Pro and a four-time Pro Bowler. Despite disappointing a bit in the last couple years, Gostkowski remains a high-end fantasy booter going into 2019.
The San Francisco 49ers are showing interest in free-agent kicker Stephen Gostkowski despite placing the franchise tag on Robbie Gould this offseason, according to a league source. Gould and Gostkowski rank No. 2 and 3 all time in field-goal accuracy at 87.745 and 87.381 percent, respectively. The 49ers and Gould could be at odds in contract talks after they placed the franchise tag on him. Gould was interested in testing the free-agent waters and wanted to return to the Bears. Gostkowski played his entire 13-year career with the Patriots and has appeared in 200 regular season games and 28 playoff contests. He's a four-time Pro Bowler, two-time All-Pro and three-time Super Bowl champion. He had a bit of a down year in 2018 by his standards, but Gostkowski remains one of the most consistent kickers in the league.
There isn't much happening between the New England Patriots and free-agent kicker Stephen Gostkowski, according to a source. Gostkowski has made 87.4 percent of his kicks in his New England career in 128 games and remains one of the most consistent kickers in football, so it'd be a surprise if the Patriots let him walk away. There is still plenty of time for the two sides to reach an agreement.
