The New England Patriots agreed to a one-year extension through the 2021 season with safety Patrick Chung on Friday, according to sources. The 31-year-old has been a key contributor to the team's secondary throughout his career and has back-to-back seasons of 84 tackles for the Pats. He had half a sack in 2018 and also an interception. Chung continues to be a solid safety both in real life and in IDP formats.
New England Patriots safety Patrick Chung (forearm) said he is doing well after undergoing surgery to fix his broken forearm this week. He suffered the injury in the third quarter of the Super Bowl win over the Rams. Chung will also undergo surgery on his shoulder later this offseason but is expected to be ready for training camp in the summer. The 31-year-old was one of the key cogs for an underrated New England defense that stole the show in the Super Bowl. He accumulated 84 total tackles, half a sack, a fumble recovery and one interception in 15 games in the 2018 regular season.
New England Patriots safety Patrick Chung (concussion) and defensive end Trey Flowers (concussion) both missed practice for the second straight day on Thursday. Both are looking unlikely to play on Sunday night against the Lions in Week 3, which would be good news for Lions quarterback Matthews Stafford and the rest of the offense as they seek their first win of the year.
