Jets Expect Robby Anderson To Be Versatile

New York Jets wide receiver Robby Anderson is eager to prove in 2019 that he is more than just a deep threat, and the team expects him to run routes all over the field. "Hes going to run all types of routes: short, intermediate, and deep routes. Hes going to run the whole gamut," receivers coach Shawn Jefferson said. Anderson had three catches for 32 yards in the preseason game against the Falcons last Thursday and made multiple contested catches. The 26-year-old had 50 receptions for 752 yards and six touchdowns in 14 games in 2018, but don't be surprised if he has a career year in 2019 if quarterback Sam Darnold takes a second-year leap. He's not a bad target as a WR3 with WR2 upside around the eighth round of drafts.

Le'Veon Bell Won't Play In Preseason

New York Jets running back Le'Veon Bell won't play in the preseason, according to head coach Adam Gase. Gase said he was 99.9 percent sure Bell wouldn't see preseason action anyway, but seeing starting linebacker Avery Williamson go down with a torn ACL in their last game against the Falcons made him 100 percent sure to sit his new running back. Bell will make his Jets debut Sept. 8 versus the Bills, which will be his first live snaps since the 2017 season when he rushed for 1,291 yards and nine touchdowns with Pittsburgh.

Jamison Crowder Continues To Impress

New York Jets wide receiver Jamison Crowder had another solid practice as he continues to establish himself as a favorite target of Sam Darnold. Crowder had two catches for 31 yards and a touchdown in the team's first preseason game and has consistently been targeted by Darnold in practice. Crowder is looking to bounce back with his new team after being limited to nine games last season. He's got a great chance to get off to a good start with starting tight end Chris Herndon suspended for the first four games of the season as it sounds like Crowder will get plenty of targets early on.

Avery Williamson Tears ACL

New York Jets linebacker Avery Williamson (knee) will undergo season-ending surgery after he tore the ACL in his right knee on Thursday in a preseason game against the Falcons, according to a source. Williamson had been one of the team's most consistent and durable players and played middle linebacker in 2018, accumulating 80 tackles, three sacks and one interception. He signed a three-year, $22.5 million contract in 2018. Williamson started all 16 games last year and missed only five defensive snaps, so his loss is a big one for Gang Green's D. Neville Hewitt and Anthony Wint are the top candidates to replace Williamson next to C.J. Mosley. New York's defense/special teams can be avoided in fantasy.

Le'Veon Bell Won't Make Jets Debut On Thursday

New York Jets running back Le'Veon Bell will not play in the team's preseason debut against the New York Giants on Thursday, according to a source. He will be suited up while going through pregame warmups with his new teammates, per his own request. Head coach Adam Gase said the team will be cautious with Bell's workload during the preseason after a lengthy layoff from game action, in order to preserve the star running back for the regular season. The rest of the team's starters are only likely to play a series or two anyway. Bell remains a solid RB1 in all fantasy formats despite the fact he hasn't played a meaningful NFL game since Jan. 14, 2018 in Pittsburgh.
