Josh Norris News
Ottawa Senators forward Josh Norris is unlikely to return to action this season after he suffered yet another left shoulder injury. The 24-year-old has already had his left shoulder operated on twice while a third procedure is reportedly in play. It's a devastating setback as Norris skated in just eight games due to shoulder surgery last season and missed the first three games of this season while recovering. The American pivot scored 16 goals and recorded 30 points with 115 shots on goal across 50 games this season. He has been out of the lineup since Feb. 27 when he suffered the injury in a loss to the Nashville Predators. Shane Pinto has been excellent in his return from suspension and is the go-to waiver wire add in Norris' stead.
Ottawa Senators forward Josh Norris is going to miss an extended period of time due to an upper-body injury suffered in a collision with Nashville Predators forward Cole Smith during Tuesday's 4-1 loss. "I don't have any more, really, info, but we'll have some more info later on," Senators interim head coach Jacques Martin said on Thursday. "Too early to know (the timeline)." The biggest fear is another shoulder injury for the 24-year-old who was limited to just eight games last season due to shoulder surgery. He missed the first three games of this season while recovering. Norris has collected 16 goals and 30 points along with 115 shots on goal across 50 games this season, his fifth in the NHL.
Ottawa Senators center Josh Norris (upper body) is set to sit out a fourth consecutive game Thursday versus Montreal, but he could be available for the weekend. Ottawa faces Winnipeg on Saturday and has a clash with Philadelphia scheduled for Sunday. Norris has had a tough campaign in 2023-24, logging 20 points (12 goals, eight assists) in 33 outings. He hasn't added any points to his tally in seven consecutive appearances. Ridly Greig has taken over as the top-line center and played very well with Brady Tkachuk and Claude Giroux on Tuesday versus Colorado, as the trio combined for eight points.
Ottawa Senators center Josh Norris (upper body) will remain out of the lineup for Saturday's contest against the visiting San Jose Sharks. Norris sat out Thursday's 5-3 loss to the Buffalo Sabres and will miss at least one more contest. This upper-body ailment is worrisome as it's unclear if it is connected to Norris' shoulder woes as he was limited to just eight games last year and missed the first three games this season due to shoulder surgery. The Michigan native has notched 12 goals and 20 points in 33 games on the season to go along with 87 shots and 33 hits. Rookie Ridly Greig moved into a spot in the top-six between Brady Tkachuk and Claude Giroux Thursday against Buffalo and is a nice fantasy streaming option as long as Norris remains sidelined.
