Alex Galchenyuk News
The Arizona Coyotes have terminated the contract of forward Alex Galchenyuk. The news comes after it was revealed that Galchenyuk is facing charges from a July 9 arrest that include private property hit and run, disorderly conduct, failure to obey, resisting arrest, and threatening or intimidating. Galchenyuk had just signed a one-year, two-way contract worth $775,000 with the Coyotes as a free agent on July 1. The 29-year-old has posted 146 goals and 354 points in 654 career NHL games, but Galchenyuk has struggled to perform for multiple seasons now, skating for seven teams in the past six campaigns. He made 11 appearances with Colorado in 2022-23, finishing without a single point.
Arizona Coyotes center Alex Galchenyuk draws back into the lineup on Friday night thanks to an injury to Johan Larsson. Galchenyuk will be in the bottom-six once more. The center had two or more shots on goal in four consecutive appearances. Then, against the Winnipeg Jets, he seemed to lose focus again with no shots in 10:07. He looked as if the forward was just going through the motions. Galchenyuk then became a healthy scratch for the Minnesota game. He has just 15 shots through nine games and needs to make an impression soon for Arizona.
Arizona Coyotes forward Alex Galchenyuk will be back on the ice in Friday's matchup against Vegas, replacing Johan Larsson (lower body) in the lineup. The enigmatic forward sat out Tuesday's 5-2 loss to Minnesota as a healthy scratch. Galchenyuk hasn't done much for the team this season, logging two assists with 15 shots in nine appearances. He entered the lineup as a top-six forward last month but has now been skating on the fourth line in his most recent outings. The 27-year-old will likely be back there again, with Larsson having been the fourth-line center.
Arizona Coyotes forward Alex Galchenyuk inked a one-year, $750,000 contract to make a return to the Desert on Wednesday. The 27-year-old, who posted 41 points in 72 games with the club in 2018-2019, was previously on a PTO with the Coyotes. Despite having registered 108 goals in 418 career NHL games, including 30 with Montreal in 2015-2016, he has now played with six different teams over the past four seasons. It will be interesting to see if Galchenyuk can carve out and cement a role in the Yotes top-six forward group in 2021-2022, but until then, he'll likely remain as a rare streamer in very deep fantasy formats.
