Ryan Ellis News
Philadelphia Flyers defenseman Ryan Ellis (back) will unlikely be able to continue his NHL career. The 32-year-old has missed all but five games since the start of the 2021-22 season and it looks like he will be forced to call it quits because of a torn psoas muscle in his back. According to Flyers president of hockey operations Keith Jones, Ellis is still "exhausting everything that he can in order to play", but the team doesn't expect him back. Ellis made himself a name with the Nashville Predators, playing 10 years with the club and reaching the Stanley Cup Finals in 2017. He was traded to Philadelphia in the 2021 offseason and Ellis has played only a handful of games since then. The Canadian blue-liner has registered 275 points (76 goals, 199 assists) in 566 regular-season games In the NHL.
Philadelphia Flyers defenseman Ryan Ellis is still dealing with a pelvic injury and remains without a timetable to return. The versatile blue-liner was injured during the preseason last year and ended up skating in just four regular-season games. He managed a goal and four assists, with his last appearance coming on Nov. 13. It's a worrying situation for the club and Philadelphia traded for Tony DeAngelo during the offseason to strengthen its blue line. He's set to start the campaign on the first defensive pairing with Ivan Provorov.
Philadelphia Flyers defenseman Ryan Ellis (undisclosed) won't be available for Saturday's clash with Florida. Justin Braun will take over his spot on the top pairing, while Nick Seeler gets into the lineup. Ellis has started life in Philadelphia with four points in three games, and he isn't expected to be out for long, with head coach Alain Vigneault saying that Ellis will feature during the team's upcoming road trip, which starts with Wednesday's matchup against the Oilers. Carter Hart, who is 1-0-1 for the year, is back between the pipes for Philly on Saturday.
Philadelphia Flyers defenseman Rasmus Ristolainen (upper body) won't be on the ice in Friday's season opener against Vancouver. He and Ryan Ellis (undisclosed) have both struggled to get ready for the first game of the season and it just comes a little bit too soon for the former Sabre, while Ellis is ready to go. Ristolainen is day-to-day and might feature on Monday against Seattle. Ellis will join Ivan Provorov on the first defensive pairing and is set to skate on the second power-play unit as well. Carter Hart, who had a miserable time last season with a 3.67 goals-against average and a .877 save percentage, starts in the net.
