Seth Jones News
Chicago Blackhawks defenseman Seth Jones scored his first goal of the season in overtime on Friday as the Blackhawks defeated the visiting New York Islanders by a 4-3 score. The veteran rearguard beat Islanders netminder Ilya Sorokin from the high slot with plenty of traffic aiding his wrister past the Russian netminder. Jones has endured a down season offensively, like many Blackhawks skaters, as he now has just 13 points in 31 games along with 72 shots on goal and a minus-eight rating in that time. He managed 12 goals and 37 points across 72 games last season but has once again been hit with the injury bug this time around. He is still logging 25:27 of ice time per game, good for fourth-most in the NHL.
Chicago Blackhawks defenseman Seth Jones (shoulder) says he expects to return to the lineup for Saturday's contest versus the visiting Dallas Stars. The veteran blue-liner has missed his team's past 15 games and has not appeared since injuring his shoulder in a Dec. 10 game against the Washington Capitals. The 11-year veteran is logging a big-time 25:25 of ice time per game, fourth-most in the league, but has yet to score in 27 games with 11 assists on the campaign. He also has 60 shots, 64 blocks, 25 hits, 14 penalty minutes, and a minus-five rating to his ledger on the campaign. The Blackhawks, currently without phenom Connor Bedard due to a broken jaw, sit last in the Central division with a 12-28-2 record on the campaign.
Chicago Blackhawks defenseman Seth Jones (shoulder) is without a timetable to return and isn't expected to play before the Christmas break. He missed a fourth consecutive game on Tuesday as the Blackhawks pulled off a surprising 3-2 win against the Avalanche. Chicago has two more games to come before the break. With several other players also missing from the back, Nikita Zaitsev has taken on a much larger role lately and had a big impact Wednesday with two assists. Isaak Phillips and Connor Murphy currently make up the first defensive pairing in Chi-Town.
Chicago Blackhawks defenseman Seth Jones (upper body) isn't with the team for a short two-game-road trip, which starts on Tuesday in Edmonton. He sustained an upper-body injury on Sunday versus Washington and will come out of the lineup for the first time this season. Jones' absence leaves a huge gap to fill at the back for Chicago, as the 28-year-old leads all skaters on the team in average ice time with 25:25 and regularly contributes at both ends of the ice. In 27 outings, Jones has tallied 11 points with 25 hits and 64 blocks. Alex Vlasic should get the biggest boost from Jones' absence, as he's set to take over his position on the top power-play unit.
