Travis Zajac News
New York Islanders forwards Kyle Palmieri and Travis Zajac will be in the lineup versus Philadelphia on Thursday less than 24 hours after arriving via a trade from New Jersey. Both will skate on the third line. Palmieri should be a top-six forward for the Isles in no time and his fantasy value has received a big boost following the switch from New Jersey. He's having a down year, but the 30-year-old is a proven goal-scorer in the league who enjoyed five straight 20-goal campaigns prior to 2020-21.
The New York Islanders made a big move on Wednesday by acquiring forwards Kyle Palmieri and Travis Zajac from New Jersey. Forwards A.J. Greer and Mason Jobst headed in the opposite direction, along with a first round pick in the 2021 NHL Draft and a conditional fourth round pick in the 2022 NHL Draft. The Islanders, who are tied for the top spot in the East Division with Washington, lost Anders Lee (knee) for the season last month and needed to make a move to shore up their offense. Zajac is a very experienced center who's put up 18 points in 33 games this season and Palmieri is a winger who boasts 17 points for the year in 34 outings. The latter looks set for a much more productive finish to the season following the trade. Greer and Jobst are both AHLers who are irrelevant in fantasy hockey.
New Jersey Devils center Travis Zajac notched his 200th career goal in Tuesday's 5-4 shootout loss to Boston, joining Miles Wood and Kyle Palmieri among the goal-scorers. The veteran forward became the fourth player to score 200 goals for New Jersey. Three of them came during a fruitful March which Zajac finished with 12 points. He formed a productive line with Yegor Sharangovich and Janne Kuokkanen and was joined by the in-form Jesper Bratt for Tuesday's action. The Swedish speedster has finished pointless just once in his past nine appearances. Zajac heads into a two-game set against Washington averaging exactly 0.5 points per game in 30 outings this season. He's been a very good deep league asset lately, providing a bit of everything.
New Jersey Devils forward Travis Zajac added three assists in a losing effort to the Washington Capitals on Tuesday. Washington came out on top in overtime 5-4. The Winnipeg, Manitoba native, has struggled offensively this year, scoring just one goal and two assists before Tuesday's game. He is averaging the lowest amount of ice time of his career at 15:41 per game. New Jersey is quickly spinning out of control losing, six of seven contests. They are in for another uphill battle on Thursday, having to play against the New York Islanders.
