Thomas Greiss News
St. Louis Blues goaltender Thomas Greiss (lower body) has been shut down for the rest of the season. It was reported earlier in the week that Greiss had undergone a procedure, so his return was already unlikely. The 37-year-old German veteran wraps things up with a 7-10-0 record, a 3.84 goals-against average, a .896 save percentage and one shutout. Greiss will be an unrestricted free agent in the offseason and it remains to be seen if the 2019 William M. Jennings Trophy winner continues his NHL career or not.
St. Louis Blues goaltender Thomas Greiss sent the Minnesota Wild home unhappy Sunday, stopping 35 shots to record his first shutout of the season in a 3-0 win. He had an easy night at the office at first, with the Wild managing just 12 shots on the net in the first two periods, but Greiss then faced a very heavy barrage in the third. The German netminder was playing in his first game since Dec. 20 and improved to 5-5-0 for the season. His goals-against average of 3.23 is pretty poor, but Greiss has been a solid backup overall for St. Louis, producing a .911 save percentage.
St. Louis Blues goaltender Thomas Greiss was on his game Friday, stopping 41 of 43 shots in a 5-2 win over the Calgary Flames. Greiss easily outplayed his opponent, Jakob Markstrom, and was the difference in a game where the Blues weren't necessarily the better team. The win bumps Greiss' record to 4-4-0, and he has a .905 SV% and 3.50 GAA. Neither Greiss nor usual starter Jordan Binnington have been great this season, but if the former can get hot, the Blues' could ride him as they try to salvage their season. Keep an eye out for him as a sneaky potential start-stealer if he has a couple more good starts.
Detroit Red Wings goaltender Thomas Greiss suffered an upper-body injury in Thursday's 5-2 loss to the Islanders and couldn't make it to the end of the game. The former Islander was involved in a collision with Oliver Wahlstrom six minutes before the final break and he initially managed to carry on, but Alex Nedeljkovic replaced him for the third period. Greiss allowed three goals on 16 shots and Nedeljkovic didn't do much better with two goals given up on 10 shots. It's not been a fun season for Greiss in Mo-Town, with the German veteran registering an 8-11-1 record with a 3.79 goals-against average and a .885 save percentage. Nedeljkovic has grabbed most of the starts and Greiss could now be without game action for a while if he suffered a serious injury.
