Joonas Korpisalo News
Ottawa Senators goaltender Joonas Korpisalo will start Wednesday's matchup against Detroit. The 29-year-old will look to improve an 11-16-2 record. It's been a bumpy ride for Korpisalo in Ottawa this season, but he will have gained confidence from his most recent appearance against Nashville. Korpisalo helped the team battle out a 4-3 overtime win on Monday in a relief effort without giving up a single goal on 17 shots. Getting a win on Wednesday against a team that has won nine of its last 12 games could give a further boost to Korpisalo.
Ottawa Senators goaltender Joonas Korpisalo (undisclosed) is available to return to the lineup on Monday, but whether he will start or back up Anton Forsberg is yet to be determined. Korpisalo missed two games after suffering an injury on the team's trip to Sweden. The 29-year-old has a 5-4-0 record with a 3.17 GAA, .906 SV% and 1.3 GSAA in 11 games this season. He should take over the majority of the starts upon his return, and needs to be rostered in all but the shallowest of fantasy leagues.
Ottawa Senators goaltender Joonas Korpisalo (undisclosed) will not return Friday against the New York Islanders. Korpisalo is dealing with an undisclosed injury suffered when Ottawa was playing in Sweden. It is unknown how long he will be out for, but in the meantime, the Senators have called up Mads Sogaard to serve as the backup to Anton Forsberg. Korpisalo was having a decent start to his tenure in Ottawa, posting a 5-4-0 record with a 3.17 GAA, .906 SV%, and 1.2 GSAA in 11 games, so the Sens are hopeful he can return soon. If Forsberg is available, he is a good replacement for Korpisalo until the latter returns to action.
Ottawa Senators goaltender Joonas Korpisalo had an impressive outing in Monday's preseason clash versus Pittsburgh. A Penguins team that featured Sidney Crosby and Evgeni Malkin failed to get anything past Korpisalo, and the Finnish netminder celebrated a 40-save shutout in a 3-0 win. Korpisalo has spent the last few campaigns playing behind a very leaky defense in Columbus, but he showed his class last season during a short stint with the Kings and now finds himself in a great spot in Ottawa. The Senators also couldn't keep the puck out of their net in 2022-23, but they are expected to be among the most improved teams in the upcoming campaign.
