Jake McCabe News
Toronto Maple Leafs defenseman Jake McCabe will sit out on Thursday against the New Jersey Devils due to maintenance. The Leafs' blueline has been ravaged with injuries throughout the season but McCabe has largely been healthy throughout the campaign, appearing in 71 games to this point. He has tallied a career-high eight goals and 28 points in that time while averaging a career-high 20:44 of ice time per game. He has added a whopping 213 hits, 125 blocked shots, 54 penalty minutes, and a plus-19 rating to his ledger. He scored the overtime winner in a 3-2 triumph over the Pittsburgh Penguins on Monday.
Toronto Maple Leafs defenseman Jake McCabe (groin) will return to the lineup on Friday against the Calgary Flames. McCabe missed the last six games with a groin injury suffered on October 26. His return comes at a good time for the Leafs, as John Klingberg is dealing with an undisclosed injury and won't play tonight. Klingberg was seeing time on the top powerplay unit, so Morgan Rielly is likely the beneficiary of his absence. As for McCabe, he will slide into the second pairing next to Mark Giordano and will likely see a lot of minutes with the Leafs beat up on the back end.
Toronto Maple Leafs defenseman Jake McCabe (groin) rejoined the team in practice on Sunday. He hasn't been able to work with his teammates since injuring his groin on Oct. 26 in a game against the Stars. The injury has resulted in McCabe missing four contests. Toronto has lost every game since McCabe's injury and could really use him back in the lineup after allowing four goals per game during the slide and losing Timothy Liljegren (anke) from defense. McCabe joined John Klingberg on the second defensive pairing in practice, and he could be back in action Monday against the Lightning.
Toronto Maple Leafs defenseman Jake McCabe (groin) has been ruled out for Thursday's matchup against Boston. He has already been on the shelf for two games, and Maple Leafs head coach Sheldon Keefe has said that it's also "unlikely" McCabe can return at the weekend when there's a meeting with Buffalo scheduled for Saturday. The Maple Leafs will mostly miss McCabe's physicality. He hasn't tallied any points in seven appearances this season but boasts 12 hits with nine blocked shots. William Lagesson has entered the lineup in his absence, although he's been very quiet in the two games he's played, recording one shot, one block, and two hits while averaging 11:05 of ice time.
