Ivan Barbashev News
Vegas Golden Knights forward Ivan Barbashev has signed a five-year extension with the team just a few days before being eligible to hit unrestricted free agency. The deal will be worth $5 million annually. Getting a signature from Barbashev was one of the priorities for the Golden Knights this summer after the 27-year-old played a big role in the team's Stanley Cup triumph. The Russian forward tallied seven goals and 18 points in 22 games during the championship run. After coming over from St. Louis in February, Barbashev found himself a comfortable spot in Vegas next to Jack Eichel on the top line and went on to grab 16 points in 23 regular-season appearances. He now looks set to be a vital part of the Golden Knights' top six for the foreseeable future.
Vegas Golden Knights center Ivan Barbashev finished with a goal and two assists in Tuesday's 4-0 victory against the Stars in Game 3 of the Western Conference Final. Barbashev picked up an assist on forward Jonathan Marchessault's opening goal of the game, while his goal doubled the Golden Knights lead on a three-on-two rush in the offensive zone on a power play. The 27-year-old collected his third point of the contest on defenseman Alex Pietrangelo's goal in the second period to give the team a four-goal advantage. Barbashev brings his playoff total to five goals and 13 points through 14 games, which puts him in a tie for third on the team in points.
Vegas Golden Knights forward Ivan Barbashev played a big part in Sunday's 5-2 win over the Oilers with two assists. Both of his helpers came in the second period when Jonathan Marchessault had a hat trick to turn a 2-1 deficit into a 4-2 lead. Barbashev disappeared in the second-round series for a couple of games, but he had a strong finish with three points and a plus-four rating across the last two games, and he should continue to play a significant role for Vegas in the Western Conference Finals. The Russian forward is up to four goals and five assists in 11 games this postseason.
Vegas Golden Knights forward Ivan Barbashev kept up his good goal-scoring form in Saturday's Game 2 against Edmonton, notching the team's only tally in a heavy 5-1 defeat. The Oilers jumped to a five-goal lead before Barbashev scored a consolation goal for the Golden Knights early in the third period. He opened the series with a two-goal effort and has now scored all four of his postseason goals this year in the past four games. Barbashev has six recorded points in total for the postseason with 14 shots on goal and 23 hits.
