Matt Dumba News
Arizona Coyotes defenseman Matt Dumba (upper body) is out week-to-week, according to head coach Andre Tourigny. Dumba was hurt early in the first period of Monday's 5-2 win over the Penguins and did not return. He isn't traveling with the team on their current three-game road trip through Florida, Tampa Bay, and Carolina, but he will get a lengthy amount of time off with a bye week and the All-Star break upcoming. "He is not on the trip and then after, we're on the break so I can say it is week to week or whatever it is," Tourigny said. It's been a difficult offensive season for the veteran, who has just two goals and five points along with a minus-10 rating across 44 games this season, his first in Arizona after spending 10 seasons with the Minnesota Wild.
Arizona Coyotes defenseman Matt Dumba exited Monday's game against Pittsburgh with an upper-body injury. He logged 7:12 of action in the clash, posting one shot on goal. It was Dumba's 14th straight game without a point. He's logged only five points (two goals, three assists) in total across 44 games, which is a very disappointing return for a player whose career-high stands at 50 points. However, Dumba is second on the team with 84 hits and third with 61 blocks, so his presence will definitely be missed if the 29-year-old has to sit out some time. Arizona returns to action on Wednesday versus Florida.
Minnesota Wild defensemen Jared Spurgeon and Matt Dumba are getting Monday night off and won't play against Chicago. The backline will also be missing Jonas Brodin, who gets some time off as well, with Minnesota seemingly happy to settle for third place in the Central Division. Alex Goligoski, Calen Addison and Brock Faber will enter the lineup, with the latter set for his NHL debut only a day after inking a three-year entry-level contract. Fabres had an outstanding college career with the Minnesota Golden Gophers, tallying 53 points in 97 games with 130 blocked shots and a plus-54 rating.
Minnesota Wild defenseman Matt Dumba will rejoin the lineup for Tuesday's matchup against Tampa Bay. He has been a healthy scratch for the past two games. Wild head coach Dave Evason will be hoping that getting scratched for multiple games will be a wake-up call for Dumba, who has been sleepwalking through the campaign. In 43 games, Dumba has picked up only 12 points with 56 shots, 58 hits and 64 blocks. Alex Goligoski filled in for Dumba in the last two games but will now come out of the lineup again. Winger Marcus Foligno (illness) is also expected back Tuesday.
