Anthony Mantha News
The Washington Capitals have traded forward Anthony Mantha to the Vegas Golden Knights, according to Darren Dreger of TSN. Mantha is enjoying a nice bounce back season, with 34 points (20 goals, 14 assists) in 56 games. It is his first 20-goal season since 2018-19 when he was a member of the Detroit Red Wings. Vegas needed to add some scoring after injuries took their toll, and Mantha can provide that. He is also an underrated defender and could make up for some of the defense lost through Mark Stone's absence. His positioning in Vegas' lineup will be worth watching, as he could provide some fantasy value if given good deployment.
Washington Capitals forward Anthony Mantha and defenseman Nick Jensen are both listed as game-time decisions for Monday's contest versus the visiting Ottawa Senators. Mantha departed Saturday's game against the Florida Panthers in the third period and did not return. Jensen left in the first period but returned in the second and finished his team's 3-2 overtime loss. "I think Mantha, good chance. Jensen, we'll see," Capitals head coach Spencer Carbery said. Mantha has recorded 18 goals and 29 points across 52 games, already surpassing the 11 goals and 27 points he put up last season. Jensen is without a goal with eight assists across 56 games on the season, blocking 85 shots in the process. He posted a career-best 29 points a season ago.
Washington Capitals forward Anthony Mantha (ear) and defenseman Trevor van Riemsdyk (lower body) are both expected to return from injury for Saturday's contest against the Columbus Blue Jackets. Mantha has missed the last three games after suffering a ruptured left ear drum after being struck by a shot in a Nov. 8 overtime loss to the Florida Panthers, while van Riemsdyk has missed the last four contests with a lower-body injury sustained in a game against the Blue Jackets on Nov. 4. The 29-year-old Mantha has three goals and four points in 10 games but notched a pair of goals against the Panthers before being injured. For his part, the defense-first van Riemsdyk has recorded one assist in 10 games with 19 blocked shots as part of his 17:35 of average ice time per game.
Washington Capitals forward Anthony Mantha could return to the lineup on Saturday after missing the last three games with a ruptured ear drum suffered in a Nov. 8 overtime loss versus the Florida Panthers. The veteran said he needed four-to-five stitches in his ear and further testing at the hospital ruled out any further damage. It's been an uneven season for the former first-round pick who has notched three goals and four points in 10 games while seeing his ice time dip to just 12:43 per game, far below his 16:33 career average. It's unclear where he will slot in upon his return but he remains on the outside of the fantasy picture looking in on a Capitals team that ranks 30th in overall offense.
