Tyler Motte News
Tampa Bay Lightning winger Tyler Motte (upper body) is set to sit out another game Thursday versus Columbus, but he is expected to feature during the team's four-game road trip, which starts with the battle against the Blue Jackets. Motte has featured just once for the Lightning so far, logging 7:55 of action on opening night. The 28-year-old will mostly add muscle to the Tampa Bay lineup, but he also had a good spell offensively with the Rangers last season and could make an impact up front if he has enough talent around him.
Tampa Bay Lightning winger Tyler Motte (upper body) will miss an indefinite period of action, the team announced on Friday. Motte was injured on opening night against Nashville when a puck hit him on the hand. It was an awful way to start your career with a new team, and Motte will now have to patiently wait for another opportunity to take the ice with the Lightning. The gritty forward is set to be replaced in the lineup by Alex Barre-Boulet, who has been called up from the AHL. The 26-year-old has six goals and nine points through 32 career outings in the NHL, but he's been a scoring machine in the minors, amassing 147 points (40 goals, 107 assists) in 127 games across the past two campaigns.
Ottawa Senators winger Tyler Motte (finger) will make his first appearance since Dec. 22 in Saturday's battle with the Canadiens. He broke a finger against Washington prior to the holiday break and has been sidelined for 15 games. Motte boasts nine points in 32 games for the season and has very limited offensive upside, but he brings a physical presence to the Senators lineup and has played an effective game with a plus-three rating. He has tallied 67 hits so far this season with 32 blocks and 61 shots on goal.
Vancouver Canucks center Tyler Motte is not known as much of an offensive threat. However, he found the back of the net on Saturday night against the Seattle Kraken. His goal at 4:38 of the third period proved to be the game-winning goal in Vancouver's 5-2 road victory. Motte's third goal of the season was set up by a great play from Matthew Highmore. Motte finished off the play and that gave Vancouver a 3-1 lead it would not relinquish. Though the center has played 14+ minutes the last two games, do not expect that or goal scoring to become a trend.
