Tage Thompson News
Buffalo Sabres forward Tage Thompson recorded a goal and an assist in Sunday's 4-1 road win against Calgary. He assisted JJ Peterka on the game-winning goal in the middle of the third frame and produced one of Buffalo's two empty-net goals. Thompson has been extremely sharp offensively lately, going on a five-game scoring streak and posting 10 points (four goals, six assists) in his past eight games. With a couple of struggling teams on the schedule waiting for him next, Thompson's hot stretch could very well continue. The 26-year-old has tallied 22 goals and 45 points in 61 games across the entire season.
Buffalo Sabres forward Tage Thompson exited Thursday's clash with the Senators early with an undisclosed injury, but he appears to have escaped a serious injury. "Tage, I think, will be OK," Sabres head coach Don Granato said postgame. "But we'll find out." Granato was full of praise for Thompson, who potted two goals in a 5-3 win. The 26-year-old did the damage in 12:27 of action and with five shots on goal. Injuries have tried to slow down Thompson this season, but it's still been a decent campaign for him with 14 goals and 13 assists in 32 appearances. He's bagged 12 points in his past nine outings.
Buffalo Sabres center Tage Thompson (upper body) will be out week-to-week. Thompson was injured in Tuesday's contest against Boston, and it was initially unclear how much time he will miss due to the injury, but know we know that Buffalo expects to have him back in less than two months. "Less than a couple of months is what's expected," Sabres head coach Don Granato said on Wednesday. "It's more week-to-week. I don't have a targeted date for him yet." With Thompson out of commission, Dylan Cozens could get a chance to center the first line. Alex Tuch (upper body) is expected to be back Friday, which would allow Cozens to shift to center after skating on Thompson's right wing.
Buffalo Sabres center Tage Thompson (upper body) is facing a long-term absence after getting hurt in Tuesday's matchup against Boston. He exited the game after getting hit on his left wrist by a puck. Thompson also left in the first period when he suffered a cut from a skate blade but was able to return. "Tage is going to miss some time here, probably significant time, unfortunately," Sabres head coach Don Granato said postgame. "He fought through the first injury but couldn't fight through the second one. Credit to him to battle but it's unfortunate." Thompson had a big breakthrough last season with a 94-point campaign and has posted 12 points (six goals, six assists) through 16 outings in 2023-24.
