The Tampa Bay Lightning and at least one other Eastern Conference team have reportedly shown interest in the right-shot blueliner, as well. The Flyers are holding firm on a tall asking price for Walker who has impressed in his first season with the Flyers following a five-year run with the Los Angeles Kings. The 29-year-old has registered five goals and 17 points while skating in all 50 Flyers contests this season but has also added 53 hits and 69 blocked shots to his ledger. The Flyers have surprised to a 25-19-6 record on the season, good for third in the Metropolitan Division, but dropped their final five games before the All-Star break and are still operating with the future in mind.
Philadelphia Flyers defenseman Sean Walker could fetch as much as a first-round pick in a trade this season, according to TSN's Darren Dreger. "You look at Sean Walker of the Philadelphia Flyers, he's a really strong right-shot defenseman, the Flyers love him, but it's expected they can command as much as a first-round draft pick for him," Dreger said on TSN's Insider Trading. Walker is in the midst of a fine season that has seen him contribute 11 points, 54 shots, 31 hits, 39 blocks, and a plus-seven rating across 26 games in his first season in Philadelphia. He is already just two points shy of matching his production across 70 games with the Kings last season. However, with the Flyers currently sitting second in the Metropolitan Division, a trade of a valuable asset such as Walker is likely not imminent.
Philadelphia Flyers defenseman Sean Walker took his point streak to four games on Sunday by delivering two assists in a 5-2 win over Columbus. Impressively, he had one helper on the power play and one in a short-handed situation early in the second frame. Walker added three shots on goal and two hits to his account in close to 20 minutes of action while also registering two penalty minutes. The former Kings player has fit in very well among his new group and has been playing a big role at both ends. The 29-year-old is on pace for a career year offensively, having amassed 10 points (three goals, seven assists) in 18 games, and Walker's contributions include 28 hits and 31 blocks.
