Jack Hughes News
New Jersey Devils forward Jack Hughes will undergo season-ending shoulder surgery on Wednesday, the team has announced. The news came after Hughes dropped out of the lineup for Tuesday's matchup against Toronto. Hughes ends the 2023-24 campaign with 74 points (27 goals, 47 assists) in 62 appearances. Despite missing nearly 20 games this season, Hughes is still the team's top goal-scorer, and only Jesper Bratt (79) has more points than him. Shane Bowers landed in the top six with Hughes out on Tuesday.
New Jersey Devils center Jack Hughes (upper body) won't be in the lineup Tuesday when the team takes on the hosting Toronto Maple Leafs on Tuesday. The young pivot is dealing with an upper-body injury, and it's unclear if he will miss additional time moving forward. "We'll see how long he's out," interim head coach Travis Green said. "I've already said what I'm going to say about Jack, he's not in tonight." It's been another big season for the American center, as he's tallied 27 goals and 74 points across an injury-shortened 62 games after recording 43 goals and 99 points in 78 games last season. The Devils' playoff hopes are hanging on by a string, as they sit five points back of the second wild-card spot in the Eastern Conference with four teams to leapfrog and just four games remaining.
New Jersey Devils center Jack Hughes will be in the lineup for Tuesday's game against the visiting Pittsburgh Penguins. The 22-year-old did not take part in the morning skate on Tuesday but will indeed suit up, according to Devils interim head coach Travis Green. It's been a productive season for the former first-overall pick who has recorded 21 goals and 63 points across 52 games on the season, putting a hefty 233 shots on goal in that time. However, he is also minus-16 on a Devils team that has disappointed this season. New Jersey currently sits seventh in the Metropolitan Division with a 32-32-4 record on the season, seven points back of the second and final Wild Card spot in the Eastern Conference.
New Jersey Devils center Jack Hughes (upper body) will return to the lineup for Thursday's home game versus the Calgary Flames. The young pivot has missed the past 11 games after suffering an upper-body injury in a 5-3 win against the Colorado Avalanche on Jan. 5. He has been skating with the team in recent days but was not cleared for game action until Thursday. "Yeah, excited. Ready to get back out there," Hughes said following the Devils' morning skate on Thursday. The former No. 1 overall pick broke out with 43 goals and 99 points across 78 games last season and has 15 goals and 45 points across 32 games this time around. The Devils need wins, as they currently sit at 25-20-3 and five points back of the Red Wings for the final wild-card spot in the Eastern Conference.
