Carlos Rodón News
New York Yankees starting pitcher Carlos Rodon (4-2) picked up his fourth win of the season in a 5-1 victory over the Minnesota Twins on Tuesday. He produced a quality start along the way, finishing with six strikeouts and only one run allowed through six innings. After getting knocked around for six runs by the Baltimore Orioles, Rodon has put together back-to-back quality starts, only giving up three total runs in that span. The lefty has a 3.31 ERA on the season and is a lot more like the hurler they aspired him to be after signing with the club in the 2022-2023 offseason. Rodon's days of flirting with double-digit strikeouts every start are a thing of the past, but the Yankees will certainly take the fewer strikeout totals for the respectable ERA he has produced this season. Rodon is always good for an occasional hiccup, but fantasy managers can feel comfortable with him in their lineup against the Chicago White Sox on Sunday.
New York Yankees starting pitcher Carlos Rodon turned in a quality start in Wednesday's 9-4 victory over the visiting Houston Astros, tossing 6 1/3 two-run innings on seven hits (one home run) with seven strikeouts on the way to his third win of the season. Rodon got plenty of run support on Wednesday, and it was a strong bounce-back performance after he gave up six earned runs in his last start against the division-rival Baltimore Orioles. The 31-year-old two-time All-Star holds a steady 3.56 ERA, 1.26 WHIP, and 43:14 K:BB across 43 innings (eight starts) for the Yankees this season, a major upgrade thus far over his disastrous debut season in the Bronx a year ago. Tuesday's stiff matchup against the Minnesota Twins at Target Field marks Rodon's next scheduled appearance, so fantasy managers may want to tread lightly for that one. Over their last 16 contests, the Twins are scoring 6.3 runs per game.
New York Yankees starting pitcher Carlos Rodon had a start to forget on Thursday against the Baltimore Orioles. The left-hander was tagged for seven runs (six earned) on eight hits with six strikeouts. He did not issue a walk, but he gave up three homers in the defeat. Prior to this outing against a tough Orioles lineup, Rodon had not allowed more than three runs in any outing this season. He will carry a 3.68 ERA, 1.28 WHIP and 36/14 K/BB into his next projected start against the underperforming Houston Astros. Rodon still deserves to be rostered in most fantasy formats.

After pretty much hitting rock bottom in 2023, things can only get better in 2024 for New York Yankees starting pitcher Carlos Rodon. Multiple injuries delayed his 2023 campaign until July, but the former 2x All-Star seemed to never shake off the rust. His final line was 3-8 with a 6.85 ERA, 5.79 FIP, 1.45 WHIP, 12.6% K-BB%, 76.4% Contact%, and 15.2% HR/FB%. Looking on the bright side, the southpaw still had a 22.4% K%, 12.5% SwStr%, and his Stuff+ was 111, good for 18th-best in the league. The BB and HR appear to be what did him in, but with a career BB% of 9.0%, there might not be much of an improvement in that area in 2024. The former first-round pick's career HR/FB% of 11.1% indicates there should be some regression, which should help lower his ERA to a more tolerable level. FGDC projections seem a tad rosy, going 11-8 with a 3.79 ERA, 1.16 WHIP, 20.9% K-BB%, and 194 K in 163 IP. A RotoBaller rank of 174 is right at his NFBC ADP, but there are pivot options if the poor 2023 and lengthy injury history make you queasy, such as Nick Pivetta and Eduardo Rodriguez who are going a bit later.
