The benefit of an MLB optimizer is to use our baseball projections to create a daily fantasy lineup but allow the user enough control on how the lineup roster is constructed.
FanatsyData's MLB optimizer features icons that you can click to lock a player into your lineup or exclude a player by clicking on the "lock" or "x" icon. This option allows the optimizer to make a custom DFS lineup for you very quickly.
While there are no guarantees in daily fantasy sports, using an MLB optimizer does provide the user an edge against the field. With the combination of integrating value, an optimizer can quickly generate dozens of lineups for you to submit that are built around our highest recommended guys and players you believe will perform well.
Everyone starts differently, but due to the fact that you're working with a daily fantasy budget, whether that's $50,000 with DraftKings, $40,000 at Fanduel, or $200 at Yahoo, you need to find bargain players that can say you some cash. Adding a few cheaper players allows you to add studs that have high salaries.
Start by sorting the value column and look for players that have a high fantasy projection at a relatively cheaper cost. By hitting on just two cheaper players you have drastically increased your odds for success. Not only do you save money, but the more obscure the player, the less likely he'll be in anyone else's lineup. Lower rostership or ownership% is important in creating a unique lineup.
The best part about FantasyData's MLB optimizer is the ability to test different combinations to see if you can get a DFS lineup with the highest possible score. After you click on the "Optimize" button, a generated lineup with appear with an overall projected lineup score. Depending on how many players you have selected, your lineup's score will vary. To start we would suggest picking two to three players until you finetune a roster you're happy with.
Helpful Daily Fantasy tips when constructing your MLB lineups:
- Always pay up for good pitching
- NL pitchers tend to be more preferable as they get to pitch against the pitcher (an easy out/SO). Applies to AL pitchers playing inter-league as well.
- The goal with pitchers is strikeouts and wins.
- When stacking in GPPs look for under-the-radar stacks. Your Rockies/opponent playing at Coors stack will be owned by everyone.
- Pay attention to the weather. In MLB cash games avoid rain or the chance of it, especially with pitching. Target hitters in GPPS playing in rain games as they will be highly under-owned. Contrary to popular belief very few games actually get rained out.
- Know Your Parks - Coors, Chase, GABP, Arlington, etc. vs Pitchers' parks Petco, Marlins, PNC, OAK Dumpster
- Weather can affect the way the ball travels. Hot and dry is ideal. Cold is bad.
- Look at the hitters' previous few games, Hot & Cold streaks are real. Same with buying cheap on a cold guy in a plus matchup.
- wOBA and ISO are your friends.
- Know your splits. Lefties struggle against lefties. Righties can generally do well against both unless the individual splits indicate otherwise.
