Bobby Miller News
Los Angeles Dodgers starting pitcher Bobby Miller (shoulder) will throw two simulated innings at Camelback Ranch in Arizona on Wednesday, manager Dave Roberts said. While Miller's next step in his throwing program has not yet been determined as he recovers from inflammation in his right shoulder, it will either be a three-inning sim game or a minor-league rehab assignment. The 25-year-old flame-throwing right-hander remains on track to rejoin LA's rotation sometime in late May or early June, barring any setbacks. Former top prospect Gavin Stone should get another couple of turns in the Dodgers' rotation until Miller is back in the fold, and he's worth streaming in all fantasy leagues with a solid 3.55 ERA, 1.26 WHIP, and 27 strikeouts with three wins through 38 innings (seven starts) this season.
Los Angeles Dodgers right-hander Bobby Miller (shoulder) threw a bullpen session on Monday. "Velocity was good. He'll throw another one. ... From everything I've seen (a rehab assignment) is coming pretty quickly, which is really encouraging," manager Dave Roberts said. This was Miller's second bullpen session since he was placed on the injured list on April 13 due to right-shoulder inflammation. The 25-year-old is going to need to go on a minor-league rehab assignment soon, but it's unclear if he'll need to make more than one start on the farm before rejoining the Dodgers' starting rotation. Despite posting a 5.40 ERA and 1.46 WHIP in 11 2/3 innings in his first three starts in 2024 before getting hurt, Miller needs to be rostered in all fantasy formats for his high-end strikeout upside with the best offense in baseball backing him each time out.
Los Angeles Dodgers right-hander Bobby Miller (shoulder) threw a bullpen session on Friday, but manager Dave Roberts was unsure how many bullpens Miller will need before he's cleared to face live hitters. However, the skipper said Miller can ramp up quickly once that starts. The 25-year-old is trying to work his way back from right-shoulder inflammation that landed him on the injured list on April 13. Friday was the first time that Miller has thrown off a mound, so it's a notable step in his recovery. The former 29th overall pick in 2020 out of Louisville has a 5.40 ERA and 1.46 WHIP in his first three starts in 2024, but his elite strikeout upside makes him stash-worthy in all fantasy formats. Miller struck out 18 and walked just six in 11 2/3 innings over his first three outings before going on the shelf.

Los Angeles Dodgers starting pitcher Bobby Miller had a rookie season most pitchers dream of. The former first-round pick compiled an 11-4 record of 22 starts with a 3.76 ERA and 3.51 FIP. With his pedigree and underlying metrics, it looks like Miller can at least duplicate his numbers from 2023 and possibly improve on them. His xERA of 3.40 was in the 81st percentile and he has numbers to prove that wasn't beginner's luck. His expected batting average was .229, his walk percent was two points better than the league average and he had a 47.7% groundball rate. The 24-year-old posted a .277 BABIP and 1.10 WHIP, showing he wasn't overly lucky at keeping runners off base, thus proving he should be able to repeat such a feat. The 10.7% HR/FB rate Miller posted also looks sustainable, thanks in part to his high groundball rate. He's ranked at 100 by RotoBaller and he's going around there, meaning he won't come overly cheap, but know he should return great value.
