Mitch Garver News
Seattle Mariners catcher Mitch Garver is out of the starting lineup ahead of Monday's game against the New York Yankees. It sounds like the Mariners plan on shaking up their lineup going forward. Manager Scott Servais says he plans to mix in lefty bats more frequently. That means, Garver, Mitch Haniger, and Ty France could all see the bench more often. Garver has struggled this season, so a platoon situation isn't shocking. Cal Raleigh will cover behind the plate and bat third on Monday.
Seattle Mariners catcher Mitch Garver (back) has returned to the starting lineup on Friday against the Baltimore Orioles and left-hander John Means, serving as the designated hitter while batting third in the order. The 33-year-old veteran backstop will return to action after being scratched from Tuesday's lineup with back spasms. He's gone hitless in only three career at-bats against Means and is slashing just .174/.287/.347 with five home runs, 13 RBI and 13 runs scored in 143 trips to the plate and 36 games in his first season in Seattle. Garver has picked things up in May, though, going 9-for-37 (.243) with two doubles, two home runs, six RBI and five runs scored in 11 games played. He's also been better against lefties than righties in 2024, making him a DFS sleeper at the position on Friday against Means.
Seattle Mariners catcher/designated hitter Mitch Garver (back) and second baseman Jorge Polanco (hamstring) are both out of the lineup on Wednesday against the visiting Kansas City Royals. Garver was scratched from Tuesday's lineup due to back spasms and will miss his second straight game. Polanco will also sit out for the second day in a row due to a tight right hamstring. Mitch Haniger is the DH and is hitting third on Wednesday, with Josh Rojas at second base and batting leadoff against Royals right-hander Alec Marsh. Luke Raley is in right field and is batting fifth. Fantasy managers should consider both Garver and Polanco day-to-day and check back to see if they are back in the lineup on Friday for the series opener against the Orioles in Baltimore. Rojas doesn't have much power but has been swinging a hot bat this year with a .333 average (36-for-108) with three homers, eight RBI and four stolen bases.

Seattle Mariners catcher/designated hitter Mitch Garver brings with him an excellent floor when it comes to the power department. The 33-year-old has only 451 big-league games under his belt due to injury and a timeshare behind the plate in his career but has flashed significant power when on the field. Garver has slugged 82 home runs in those 451 games while putting forth an excellent .231 isolated power and a 123 wRC+ that sits 23% above the league average. Slated as the everyday DH, the hope is Garver can stay healthy this season as ATC projects 22 home runs and 62 RBI across 462 plate appearances for him in the 2024 campaign. That is certainly enough to warrant an investment on draft day while his 176.34 ADP is reasonable considering his floor.
