Jon Gray News
Texas Rangers starting pitcher Jon Gray improved to 2-1 on the season after throwing 6 1/3 shutout innings in Wednesday's 4-0 victory over the Guardians. The 32-year-old allowed just four hits and two walks while striking out three. The outing was his fourth straight quality start and lowered his ERA to 2.08. Removing the righty's first start of the season (five earned runs allowed) from the equation, Gray has a 1.30 ERA, 1.06 WHIP, 0.19 HR/9, and boasts a 20.0% K-BB% over his last nine appearances (eight starts). He'll be put to the test in his next start, which is against one of the hottest teams in baseball, the Philadelphia Phillies at Citizens Bank Park next Tuesday.
Texas Rangers starting pitcher Jon Gray put together an excellent performance against the Washington Nationals on Tuesday evening. The veteran fired eight innings of one-run ball and allowed three hits with no walks and three strikeouts. Gray has been off to a very hot start this season with a 2.48 ERA in seven games (six starts) to go along with 35 strikeouts in 32 2/3 innings. Gray has been a workhorse for the Rangers this season and is worthy of consideration in all formats with his early season success. The veteran will look to continue his strong season versus the Royals on Sunday and managers can safely dial him up in that outing.
Texas Rangers starting pitcher Jon Gray threw eight innings of one-run ball with three strikeouts to lead the Rangers to a victory over the Washington Nationals on Tuesday evening. Gray only ran into trouble in the opening frame, where he allowed a leadoff single to CJ Abrams. Abrams then swiped second base and scored off a Luis Garcia Jr. single. Then, later in the fifth inning, Trey Lipscomb hit a single, which was the final hit that Gray allowed. This dominant outing lowers Gray's ERA to 2.56 and WHIP to 1.23. The 32-year-old's next start is scheduled to be on Sunday, May 5th, against the Kansas City Royals.

Jon Gray will be a mainstay in a Texas Rangers rotation decimated by injuries to Max Scherzer (back) and Jacob deGrom (elbow), who won't return until June at the earliest. Gray reportedly will add his curveball and change-up more into his mix for 2024 to rely less on his fastball and slider. He was (9-8) with a 4.12 ERA and a 1.29 WHIP across 157 1/3 innings in 2023. His K% is only average at 21.6%. ATC projects a (9-9) season with a 4.30 ERA and 1.28 WHIP, along with 149 strikeouts in 155 innings. The NFBC ADP of 322 shows that most fantasy players view Gray as a kind of shock absorber who can fill innings for your team and not destroy your ratios. Gray projects as the No. 2 starter in Texas who can help fill in the back end of your fantasy rotation.
