Jonathan India News
Cincinnati Reds second baseman Jonathan India (migraine) is not in the starting lineup on Thursday with a migraine. He was also held out of Wednesday's lineup for the same reason. The 27-year-old should still be considered day-to-day. As a result, Santiago Espinal will get the starting nod at the keystone and bat in the eight-hole. Espinal has been swinging a hot bat as of late with a .400/.438/.600 line across his past five games with one home run. However, he has a tough task tonight in Tyler Glasnow, who enters Thursday with a 2.53 ERA and 73 punchouts across 57 innings, and is best to fade him in DFS this evening.
Cincinnati Reds second baseman Jonathan India (head) was scratched from the lineup on Wednesday against the Arizona Diamondbacks due to a migraine headache. With India out of the lineup, Spencer Steer will move to second base and bat cleanup, while Jacob Hurtubise will play left field and hit in the nine-hole against Diamondbacks right-hander Brandon Pfaadt. Fantasy mangers should consider India day-to-day for now. It remains to be seen if he'll be feeling good enough to return for Thursday's series opener in Los Angeles against the Dodgers. The 27-year-old former Rookie of the Year is hitting just .228 (31-for-136) on the year but is playing everyday with Matt McLain (shoulder) sidelined for the foreseeable future. Steer is hitting 6-for-17 (.353) with two doubles and six RBI during his current five-game hitting streak.
Cincinnati Reds second baseman Jonathan India (illness) is back in the starting lineup on Thursday and is serving as the designated hitter while batting sixth against Philadelphia Phillies right-hander Zack Wheeler. India returns to the field for the first time since last Saturday after dealing with an illness. The Reds are easing him back in as the DH, with Santiago Espinal still playing second base and batting eighth. The 27-year-old India probably should be left on benches in his first game back in a tough matchup against a pitcher that he's hitless against in seven career at-bats. He's also gotten off to a slow start offensively this year, going 12-for-69 (.174) with no home runs, four RBI, two stolen bases and 10 runs scored for the Reds.

Jonathan India became something of a forgotten man in the wake of Cincinnati's 2023 youth movement, but the 26-year-old former NL Rookie of the Year achieved real growth at the plate last season. He hit .244/.338/.407 with 17 HR and 14 SB in 529 PAs, providing the power-speed combo fantasy managers crave. India also posted career bests in chase rate (22.2%) and SwStr% (7.8), making his 20.6 K% and 9.8 BB% look repeatable. India's .250 xBA suggests he was slightly unlucky on balls in play last season, and his 27.8 ft./sec Statcast Sprint Speed gives him batting average upside beyond that. Most importantly, India's contact quality improved substantially. India upped his average airborne exit velocity to 93.2 mph from 88.6 mph in 2022, while his rate of Brls/BBE increased from 4.8 to 7.7. Furthermore, India produced a career-best 39.5 FB%, giving him the volume of fly balls needed to take advantage of Great American Ballpark. The biggest question with India is how much he'll play, and the Reds plan on looking at him at 1B and in the outfield during Spring Training. Assuming the Reds find him PAs, India seems poised to turn a substantial profit on his ADP of 197.55.
