Mason Appleton News
Winnipeg Jets forward Mason Appleton will line up with Kyle Connor and Mark Scheifele on the top line Thursday against Vegas. The 26-year-old replaces Gabriel Vilardi (knee), who was injured in the last game and has been ruled out for at least four weeks. With three games played, Appleton has managed to contribute one goal and one assist with six shots on goal. Getting minutes with talented scorers like Connor and Scheifele boosts Appleton's fantasy appeal, although he hasn't previously been very productive in similar situations.
Winnipeg Jets center Mason Appleton is currently out of commission with a lower-body injury. The team regards him as day-to-day. Appleton played his second preseason game Wednesday versus Calgary, but it looks like he won't be able to take the ice Friday against Ottawa. The Jets have two more preseason contests coming up next week, and Appleton might then be ready to feature again. The 27-year-old power forward missed half of last season and must be desperate to get himself fully ready for the 2023-24 campaign. Appleton spent some time on the first line last term and posted 16 points (five goals, 11 assists) in 41 games with 71 shots on goal and 47 hits. It's possible he could've made an even bigger impact if it weren't for an early-season wrist injury, which required surgery and sidelined Appleton for three months.
Winnipeg Jets right wing Mason Appleton (upper body) won't play Tuesday against the Kings. He was already a major doubt for the contest due to an upper-body injury and the 27-year-old has now been ruled out. Appleton, who's been a regular in the top six, has been bothered by injuries all season long and has skated in only 22 games. He's managed to post two goals and seven assists. Appleton's injury will give Nino Niederreiter a chance to make his team debut in a top-six role. He was picked up from Nashville over the weekend and joined the Jets in practice Monday, skating on the second line. Niederreiter also worked with the first power-play unit, so he's definitely a guy fantasy managers should monitor.
Winnipeg Jets right wing Mason Appleton (wrist) has undergone surgery and will need 8-12 weeks to recover. He injured his wrist in Sunday's 3-2 win over Seattle. Appleton hasn't done a lot this season, going for one goal and five assists, but he's been a first-liner on a team that has already been without Nikolaj Ehlers (lower body). Sam Gagner is set to take over from Appleton on the line. The veteran forward boasts three goals and two assists for the season, having mostly played fourth-line minutes. He's been a proven scorer in the league and should fit in well on the line.
