Garrett Crochet News
Chicago White Sox starting pitcher Garrett Crochet has looked sharp on the mound over his last few starts. On Wednesday, Crochet recorded six strikeouts over five scoreless innings during the win over the Washington Nationals. He held the Nats hitters to three hits and three walks during this game. Crochet has now posted four straight solid outings after a couple of bad starts to open the season. He'll take a 4.18 ERA, 1.01 WHIP and 70/12 K/BB ratio into his next start against the Toronto Blue Jays.
Chicago White Sox starting pitcher Garrett Crochet looked sharp on the mound during Sunday's game against the St. Louis Cardinals. The southpaw struck out six batters over six innings of work while allowing only one run. The 24-year-old only allowed three hits and didn't walk anyone during this outing. He'll carry a 5.31 ERA, 1.01 WHIP, and a 53/9 K/BB ratio into his next start against the Cleveland Guardians.
Chicago White Sox starting pitcher Garrett Crochet suffered his second loss of the season on Saturday, giving up five runs on four hits in 4 2/3 innings against the Cincinnati Reds. Not all was bad as Crochet was able to notch 10 strikeouts in the performance, but a horrible second inning was enough to do damage to the lefty's box score. Though this was Crochet's second loss on the season, it was just his first truly subpar start this season and the only one where he's given up more than two earned runs. The lefty will look to bounce back later in the week as the White Sox look to decide whether he'll start on Wednesday vs the Kansas City Royals or Friday vs the Philadelphia Phillies.

Selected 11th overall in the 2020 draft, Crochet wasted no time in showing he was capable of getting out big-league hitters. The hard-throwing lefty reached the Majors with a reputation for being able to tickle 100 mph with his heater but he was also known for having command issues which made him more hittable than he should have been in college. Crochet's strong fastball-slider mix which was 85% fastballs in his debut held opposing hitters to an invisible 0% Barrel rate and a very low 8% Sweet Spot rate. Unfortunately, the young pitcher's season was cut short by forearm strain, which did not require surgery but creates some concern moving forward. The White Sox have not committed to a role for Crochet as the 2021 season nears but we're operating under the assumption that he'll open the year as a multi-inning reliever capable of pitching in high-leverage situations who will be stretched out enough to also act as an emergency starter. Crochet's ADP currently sits around 435 which is low when taking his talent and ceiling into consideration but the uncertain role and injury scare are reasonable concerns.
