Ty France News
Seattle Mariners first baseman Ty France went 1-for-4 with a two-run homer in Thursday's victory against the division rival Texas Rangers. The round tripper would be the first of the season for France, who is coming off a disappointing 2023 season. France has been hitting the ball well with a .266 batting average, but he has not done much to help fantasy managers with just six RBI. He has been hitting the ball very hard this year, so more power can come along, but for now he remains a better player for the Mariners than fantasy. He is worth keeping an eye on to see if contact will turn into power, but is more of a watch-list candidate in most formats at this time.
Seattle Mariners first baseman Ty France has been activated from the paternity leave list on Monday. France missed three games while his wife gave birth. However, he's back at first base and batting seventh versus right-hander Jose Berrios on Monday. France is batting .320 with an RBI in seven games this season. Fantasy managers can get him back in their lineups ahead of Monday's game.
The Seattle Mariners placed first baseman Ty France on the paternity list on Friday and called up infielder Samad Taylor from Triple-A Tacoma in a corresponding move. France will miss the weekend series against the Milwaukee Brewers but should be back early next week to take on the Blue Jays in Toronto. Seattle's starting lineup against the Milwaukee Brewers on Friday night has yet to be posted, but either Luke Raley or Dylan Moore are the primary candidates to start at first base for the team with France away from the team this weekend. The 29-year-old France has looked good in the early going for Seattle this year, going 8-for-25 (.320) with a double, RBI and three runs scored in 27 plate appearances over his first seven games. Fantasy managers need to remove him from their lineups this weekend.

Seattle Mariners first baseman Ty France is a quality overall bat in the real world but his fantasy value doesn't stack up. The 29-year-old took a step back at the plate in 2023 when he hit .250 with 12 home runs, 58 RBI, and a .703 OPS while handling everyday first-base duties with 665 trips to the plate. A career .270 hitter with a .761 OPS, France's .147 isolated power over the last three seasons ranks 30th of 36 first basemen who made at least 500 trips to the plate in that time. Despite limiting strikeouts, he doesn't draw many walks with a career 6.3% BB% and he has one stolen base in 562 MLB contests. France projects for 15 home runs by ATC in 2024, a figure that fantasy managers absolutely need to fade at the first-base position.
