Tyler O'Neill News
Boston Red Sox outfielder Tyler O'Neill came up clutch for his team during Sunday's game against the Chicago Cubs. The right-handed slugger came up to the plate with runners at the corners and no outs in the ninth inning. O'Neill delivered a hit to left field that scored Jarren Duran and gave the Red Sox the 5-4 win. The 28-year-old is now slashing .329/.447/.729 with nine home runs and 12 RBI this season.
Boston Red Sox outfielders Tyler O'Neill and Masataka Yoshida are not in the lineup for the matinee game on Thursday against the Cleveland Guardians. Rob Refsnyder is in left field and is batting third, while Wilyer Abreu is in right field and hitting cleanup against Guardians right-hander Triston McKenzie. O'Neill is getting the day off after playing the last two games upon his activation from the injured list. He went 2-for-9 in the last two games with four strikeouts and is now hitting .298 on the year with seven home runs and eight RBI. Yoshida is still considered the team's primary designated hitter, but he's out for the third straight game while the club eases third baseman Rafael Devers back from his knee injury. Devers is expected to be back at the hot corner by Saturday, which means Yoshida should be back as the DH by then as well.
Boston Red Sox outfielder Tyler O'Neill (concussion) was activated from the seven-day injured list on Tuesday and is serving as the designated hitter and batting third in the order against the Cleveland Guardians and right-hander Ben Lively. In a corresponding move, the Red Sox placed catcher Tyler Heineman (hamstring) on the 10-day injured list (retroactive to April 22) with a right-hamstring strain. O'Neill missed the minimum time on the IL after suffering a mild concussion during a collision with third baseman Rafael Devers last week. Fantasy managers should be ecstatic to get the 28-year-old outfielder back into their lineups, as he had a 1.21 OPS and seven home runs in his first 61 plate appearances before his head injury. O'Neill has never faced Lively in his career.

Boston Red Sox outfielder Tyler O'Neill had himself a forgettable season in 2023. He wasn't horrible at the plate but he appeared in just 72 games due to injury and butted heads with his hold manager in St. Louis, Oliver Marmol. As a result, he was a likely trade candidate in a young and crowded outfield in St. Louis and ended up landing with the Red Sox in an off-season swap. Assuming a return to health, O'Neill offers plenty of value at his prevailing 237.15 ADP. After all, the 28-year-old has a 34-homer, 15-steal season under his belt from the 2021 season and the righty-swinging outfielder can now take aim at the green monster that sits just 310 feet away from home plate down the left field line at Fenway Park. For those interested in a power/speed combination without using a high selection, O'Neill could be your man given his 22-homer, 13-steal projection from ATC for the 2024 campaign.
