Christian Darrisaw News
The Minnesota Vikings have exercised the fifth-year option on standout offensive tackle Christian Darrisaw, according to Adam Schefter of ESPN. The No. 23 overall pick in the 2021 NFL draft has earned a Pro Football Focus grade of at least 82.4 over the last two seasons and is widely viewed as at least an above-average player at the position. With rookie quarterback J.J. McCarthy slated to take over the franchise at some point in the 2024 season, locking up key offensive linemen should be a priority. With this move, Darrisaw will be under contract with the Vikings through the 2025 campaign.
Minnesota Vikings left tackle Christian Darrisaw (ankle) will be active and is expected to draw the start in Week 3 versus the Los Angeles Chargers, per NFL Network's Tom Pelissero. On the other hand, center Garrett Bradbury (back) is going to be inactive. Based on the Vikings' official depth chart, Austin Schlottmann should start in the wake of Bradbury's absence.
Minnesota Vikings left tackle Christian Darrisaw (ankle) returned to practice this week and was removed from the final injury report on Friday, meaning he will return to play against the Los Angeles Chargers in Week 3 on Sunday. Darrisaw suffered an ankle injury in the season-opening loss to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and was forced to sit out in the loss to the Philadelphia Eagles on a short week last Thursday night. The 24-year-old wasn't officially inactive last Thursday, but the Vikings chose not to put him in the game, even after fill-in left tackle Olisaemeka Udoh was injured in the game. Darrisaw's return will be great news for quarterback Kirk Cousins and the Vikings offense as they seek their first win of 2023.
