Tyson Bagent News
Chicago Bears quarterback Tyson Bagent made the fourth start of his career on Thursday Night Football in Week 10. The undrafted rookie finished 20-of-33 for 162 yards and rushed six times for 12 yards. While he played a clean brand of football with no turnovers, his 174 total yards were the fewest he's put up in any start this season. Justin Fields (thumb) remained out again, despite being questionable earlier in the week. With the long layoff before their Week 11 game, there seems to be a good chance Fields returns and sends Bagent back to the bench. The Bears take on the Lions in Week 11, who allow the 14th most points per game to quarterbacks this season. Even if Fields has to miss another week, Bagent remains better suited out of lineups given how limited the offense has played with him under center. Without consistent rushing opportunities, there isn't any real reason to rely on Bagent in fantasy lineups.
Chicago Bears quarterback Justin Fields (thumb) is officially inactive on Thursday night as the team takes on the Carolina Panthers in Week 10. Rookie Tyson Bagent will make will make his fourth straight start as a result. Fields returned to practice last Friday and was limited this week, though, so he's clearly making progress and could make his return in Week 11 against the Detroit Lions after dislocating his right thumb in Week 6 against the Minnesota Vikings. The 24-year-old has so far been a massive bust for the Bears and fantasy managers in 2023, but he should remain rostered in all fantasy formats. Bagent has been serviceable given the fact he hails from a Division 2 school, and his ability to use his legs makes him a low-end QB2 option in superflex leagues against a very beatable Panthers defense on Thursday night. In his first four NFL games with Fields injured this year, Bagent has gone 74-for-110 (67.3 percent) for 697 yards, three touchdowns and six interceptions.
Chicago Bears rookie quarterback Tyson Bagent is likely to make one more start this season with Justin Fields (thumb) doubtful for Thursday Night Football. The undrafted rookie is coming off his most productive fantasy performance of the year, completing 18 of 30 passes for 220 yards and two passing touchdowns while also adding eight rushes for 70 yards on the ground in their 24-17 loss to the Saints. He finished as the QB9 in most formats, offering value due to his rushing ability. Bagent will step in if Fields cannot play, but the Panthers have allowed the seventh-fewest points per game to quarterbacks this season, making it a challenging matchup. Bagent is best left on the bench in most cases, except for deeper two-QB superflex leagues.
