Baltimore Orioles outfield prospect Dylan Beavers went 2-4 on Friday evening with his fourth home run of the season. Through 31 games with Double-A Bowie, the 22-year-old has posted an excellent .302/.406/.481 line with eight stolen bases. However, through a combined 65 games at Double-A, Beavers has a .313/.412/.479 slash line suggesting that he is well adjusted to this level and could see time in Triple-A later this summer. Beavers is ranked as the number seven prospect in the Baltimore system and is expected to reach the major leagues sometime next season. The outfielder seems to be on track as he should finish the season with Triple-A, which could open the door for an early-season major league debut next year. Dynasty managers should consider stashing him if he carries this momentum into Triple-A.
Baltimore Orioles shortstop Gunnar Henderson enjoyed a big day at the plate in Friday's win over the visiting Seattle Mariners, homering and tripling during the victory. Henderson homered on a fly ball to center field to knot the game up at one run apiece in the first inning, later tripling on a sharp line drive to left field to score Jorge Mateo and make it a four-run ballgame in the eighth. The 22-year-old reigning American League Rookie of the Year was quieting down in May following a roaring start to the season, going just 8-for-45 (.178) with two long balls in 52 plate appearances this month before Friday's outing, but he returned to form in this one. Henderson will face Seattle two more times this series, but he's batting only .217 (5-for-23) with the aforementioned big fly and three RBI in seven career games against the Mariners.
Baltimore Orioles relief pitcher Felix Bautista (elbow) began playing catch on Friday. This marks the first time that Bautista has thrown since having Tommy John surgery in October and an additional surgery in February. Bautista injured his elbow in a relief appearance against the Colorado Rockies last August. As of now a return in the 2024 season has not been ruled out, though it's highly unlikely the 28-year-old will return this year. Bautista was one of the Orioles' most effective relievers in 2023, posting a 1.48 ERA in 61 innings in 2023. Fantasy managers need not worry about his status this season and instead focus on his return in the 2025 season.
Baltimore Orioles first base prospect Angel Tejada has begun to settle in at Single-A and has been swinging a hot bat through May. This month, Tejada has slashed a .362/.367/.596 line with two home runs, eleven RBI, and eight stolen bases. On the season, the 20-year-old has posted a .283/.313/.425 line with 19 swiped bags. Tejada just had his best performance of the season on Thursday as he went 3-3 at the dish with a long ball and two RBI. Tejada played 85 games at the Single-A level last season and is beginning to make a case to be promoted to High-A. The young first baseman remains a name to monitor in dynasty leagues especially if he can carry this momentum into High-A.
Baltimore Orioles third base prospect Coby Mayo (ribs) is expected to miss multiple weeks of action. The organization announced that Mayo has suffered a fractured rib when he crashed into the dugout during Thursday's game. This is a shame considering Mayo has been crushing the ball in Triple-A this season. He's slashing 291/.359/.605 with 13 homers, 37 RBI in 42 games with Triple-A Norfolk this season. It shouldn't be long before the 22-year-old is up on the big league roster. However, this injury is going to push back that timetable a bit.
