Hunter Goodman News
Colorado Rockies outfielder Hunter Goodman is in the starting lineup and will hit eighth while manning right field against the San Diego Padres and right-hander Randy Vasquez. The 24-year-old was called up from Triple-A Albuquerque on Wednesday and went 0-for-2 with a strikeout in a pair of pinch-hitting plate appearances but will get his first start in the big leagues this season on Thursday. Goodman debuted with the Rockies last season but struggled to a .200 average with just one homer and one stolen base across 77 plate appearances. However, he has demolished Triple-A pitching to the tune of a .298 average with seven homers, 22 RBI, and a 1.042 OPS across 20 games so far this season. He is worth a deep-league add given the light-tower power he has displayed throughout his minor-league tenure.
The Colorado Rockies announced on Wednesday that they recalled utility man Hunter Goodman from Triple-A Albuquerque and optioned infielder/outfielder Michael Toglia to Albuquerque in a corresponding move. Goodman, the club's No. 12 prospect per MLB Pipeline, gets called up to the majors after hitting .298 with seven home runs and 10 doubles in the first 20 games at Triple-A this year. The 24-year-old former fourth-round pick in 2021 out of Memphis made his big-league debut in 2023 and went 14-for-70 (.200) with a homer, 17 RBI, five walks and 24 strikeouts in his first 23 games played in the Show. For now, he's merely a waiver-wire option for fantasy managers in deep leagues for his power upside at Coors Field. He figures to see some playing time in right field and first base, but he's not start in Wednesday against the visiting San Diego Padres.
Colorado Rockies prospect Hunter Goodman went 1-for-5 for Triple-A Albuquerque on Sunday, extending his current hit streak to five games. After going 10-for-42 (.238) with no home runs over his first 11 games, Goodman has now gone 11-for-36 (.306) with six home runs over his last eight games. The 23-year-old has played catcher, first base, right field, and DH for the Isotopes this season. In 2023, he played first base, right field, and DH during his 23-game audition with the big league club, so it remains to be seen where he'll fit in on the diamond. The right-handed hitter belted 36 home runs in 2022 over 134 games and 34 home runs over 106 games in 2023, so there's plenty of pop in that bat, although he hit just one during his short time in Colorado last season. Assuming he gets another shot with the Rockies in 2024, he could be a sneaky source of power for homer-needy fantasy teams.

Colorado Rockies outfielder Hunter Goodman made his major-league debut in 2023 after hitting .259/.338/.581 with a .919 OPS, 34 home runs, 111 RBI and 68 runs scored in 106 games with Double-A Hartford and Triple-A Albuquerque. The 24-year-old former fourth-rounder from Memphis went 14-for-70 (.200) with a homer, 17 RBI, five walks and 25 K's in his first 23 big-league games for the Rockies. The 5-foot-11 right-handed hitter managed to hit .280 with 72 home runs in his three minor-league seasons and has plenty of intrigue in dynasty/keeper leagues, especially since he'll be calling hitter-friendly Coors Field his home. The fact that he has a good shot of breaking camp on the Opening Day roster in 2024 will also make him stash-worthy in NL-only leagues for his power upside. Goodman is being projected by ATC to hit .248/.302/.448 with 14 home runs, 52 RBI, 43 runs and two stolen bases in 354 plate appearances in his first full major-league campaign. He should go undrafted in most mixed leagues.
