Tyler Black News
Milwaukee Brewers first baseman prospect Tyler Black went 2-for-4 with a home run for Triple-A Nashville on Sunday. He also had four RBI, a walk, and a run scored in the contest. The 23-year-old keeps making his case for a promotion to the big league club, now with a .315-2-13-14-2 line on the young season. With Rhys Hoskins splitting his time between DH and 1B, and Jake Bauers and Owen Miller doing nothing of note with their time manning first base, Black could get the call to the Show sooner rather than later. The lefty could instantly add a boost to the offense with his power-speed combo after belting 18 home runs and stealing 55 bases last season between Double and Triple-A in just 123 games. Fantasy managers with an open bench spot could stash him ahead of his call-up.
Milwaukee Brewers infielder Tyler Black is making an early case for a big-league promotion. Through the first few weeks of the 2024 season, Black is hitting .333/.432/.467 with a homer and two steals. The Wright State product is coming off a breakout 2023 season with 18 home runs and 55 steals and appears to be knocking on the door in Milwaukee. With Jake Bauers struggling at the plate, The Brew Crew could be looking for more production at first base. Black is a potential multi-category contributor for fantasy managers and the situation should be monitored closely.
Milwaukee Brewers second base prospect Tyler Black went 3-for-5 on Thursday with two singles and a double in an extra-innings victory for Triple-A Nashville. This was the 23-year-old's second multi-hit performance of the season, and he currently has an overall .304/.393/.435 slash line. Black has yet to swipe a bag this season, which is quite surprising, as he stole 55 last year. Black, who is the fourth-ranked prospect in the Milwaukee system, should see playing time in the majors this season, especially if he can continue to post a high batting average in Triple-A. The second baseman has impressive contact skills and raw speed that should play well in the majors, and he will be a popular pickup if your team is lacking speed and batting average later in the season.

Milwaukee Brewers infield prospect Tyler Black enjoyed one of the best seasons of any minor leaguer in the 2023 campaign. In his age-22 season, Black hit .284 with 18 home runs and 55 stolen bases between the Double-A and Triple-A levels in 2023, posting an overall .930 OPS in the process. He played the corner infield spots in doing so, which does not suit his profile. While he has pop, his profile figures to be built around speed and a patient approach at the plate (he owns a minor-league career 16.6% BB%), as he should be able to produce above-average on-base percentages. At 5-foot-10, Black might not be able to keep up with the home run power his peers at the corner infield spots offer but he should earn his fair share of extra-base hits thanks to his legs. He won't log enough big-league time to warrant a pick around his 461 ADP as a third baseman, especially in redraft leagues, but if he can ever find a way to get second-base eligible, fantasy managers should be willing to pounce.
