Arian Foster News
Arian Foster abruptly announced his retirement Monday night, ending a successful eight-year career marred by injuries the last couple of years. Foster was an undrafted free agent in 2009 before claiming the starting RB job in Houston the following year. He promptly led the league with 1,616 yards, 16 TD and a 101 Y/G average in 2010. Last year, Foster only appeared in four games and was let go by the Texans. He signed with Miami, hoping to revive his career, but has only carried the ball 22 times for 55 yards this season while being limited with hamstring issues. Foster has effectively conceded the starting RB job in Miami to Jay Ajayi, who has run for over 200 yards in each of the past two games.
Arian Foster was back on the practice field Wednesday after missing practice on Tuesday due to a bothersome hamstring. He has already missed the last two games against Cleveland and Cincinnati. The Dolphins may be forced to cancel practice altogether on Thursday due to Hurricane Matthew. His status for Week 5 against Tennessee remains up in the air, however, as some outlets are reporting him as unlikely to suit up. Even if Foster does play, he is a dicey start at best given his injury history. Fantasy owners should wait until Foster puts in more work on the field before trusting him in lineups this week. If you are hoping to get Foster back to compensate for the loss of other injured RBs, you may need to keep scouring the waiver wire for help.
Arian Foster didn't put up very good rushing stats in his first start as a Dolphin, but it can be considered a successful debut nonetheless. Foster looked healthy, ran hard and broke a 50 yard play as a receiver out of the backfield. Foster ended the day with 13 carries for 38 yards and three receptions for 62 yards. There isn't a harder matchup than playing at Seattle against the Legion of Boom, so Foster's low output shouldn't be cause for concern. With Jay Ajayi questionable to suit up again for Miami, Foster is a solid starting option regardless of matchup going forward.
