Rodney Anderson News
Cincinnati Bengals running back Rodney Anderson (knee) is believed to have torn his anterior cruciate ligament in his knee Thursday. Anderson suffered a torn ACL on the same knee in college, and his season is believed to be over. He was in the running for touches behind running backs Joe Mixon and Giovani Bernard, but Quinton Flowers might step up into that mix. Flowers isn't worth rostering unless something were to happen to Mixon or Bernard.
Cincinnati Bengals running back Rodney Anderson played during the preseason finale against the Colts, but he injured his right knee early on, causing him to miss most of the game. Anderson's injury means that Giovani Bernard has further solidified his role as Joe Mixons handcuff while also offering some standalone value in deeper leagues. With Mixon and Bernard locked into roles in the Bengals backfield, it appears Trayveon Williams has cemented himself as the Bengals third-string running back. Damion Willis, who will be starting at wide receiver while A.J. Green (ankle) is injured, did not play in the Bengals preseason finale against the Colts, which further demonstrates that the Bengals must truly believe that they have a budding star on their hands who could have a legitimate role in their offense. Willis could be a true sleeper in your upcoming fantasy drafts, and his ranking should be elevated in dynasty leagues. Although Willis has a strong outlook early on and has some dynasty potential, his 2019 ceiling is capped because his role will be unknown once Green returns to action.
Cincinnati Bengals running back Rodney Anderson only had seven yards on eight carries on Thursday against the Giants, but he looked splendid as a receiver, compiling four receptions (four targets) for 51 yards on the night. Fantasy managers will want to monitor Anderson's progress moving forward, especially during the team's final preseason matchup against the Colts, as he could a meaningful role early in the regular season with the absences of A.J. Green (Foot), Trayveon Williams (Foot), and John Ross (hamstring).
