Justus Annunen News
Colorado Avalanche goaltender Justus Annunen (illness) is ready to back up Alexandar Georgiev on Friday against Winnipeg. He missed the first two games of the first-round series with an illness. The 24-year-old performed well during the regular season, going 8-4-1 with two shutouts. He allowed 2.25 goals with a .928 save percentage. Annunen could soon see some playoff action, as Georgiev has so far mustered a lowly .830 save percentage in the postseason.
Colorado Avalanche goaltender Justus Annunen will be the starting goaltender for Thursday's regular-season finale against the visiting Edmonton Oilers. The Avs will give No. 1 netminder Alexandar Georgiev a breather ahead of a first-round matchup with the Winnipeg Jets. For the season, Annunen has been excellent when called upon, working to a 2.35 goals-against average and a .925 save percentage across 13 outings, 11 of which were starts. The Avalanche will take on the Jets after finishing third in the difficult Central Division but will not rest any other players, according to head coach Jared Bednar.
Colorado Avalanche goaltender Justus Annunen has signed a two-year contract extension with the club on Tuesday. Financial terms of the pact have not been disclosed. The 24-year-old has had a strong season in limited duty with the Avs, working to a 2.38 goals-against average and a .926 save percentage across eight games, going 5-2-1 in the process. He has also appeared in 23 games with the American Hockey League's Colorado Eagles, posting a 2.65 GAA and a .908 Sv% alongside a 14-5-4 record. The Finland native could have become a restricted free agent at the end of the season.
Colorado Avalanche goaltender Justus Annunen posted his second shutout in as many games as the team cruised to a 5-0 victory against Chicago on Monday. The 23-year-old had 37 saves in the contest. Annunen also beat Chicago 5-0 with 24 saves in his previous start. The two shutouts match Colorado's franchise record for a rookie netminder in a single season. The recent victories have helped Annunen to improve to 3-2-1. He has allowed 2.33 goals for the season with a .929 save percentage. Keeping back-to-back clean sheets is an impressive feat, but Annunen has faced the league's weakest offense. He will definitely get more tested the next time he receives the nod in Alexandar Georgiev's stead.
