Camilo Doval News
San Francisco Giants closer Camilo Doval struck out one batter in a scoreless ninth inning to earn the save against the Boston Red Sox on Thursday. The 26-year-old is six-for-six on save opportunities this season to go along with a 3.09 ERA, 1.29 WHIP and 15/6 K/BB. Doval has not been flawless this year, but he has found a way to work around trouble when it pops up. The right-hander remains a premium fantasy option as he tries to usurp last season's career-high of 39 saves.
San Francisco Giants relief pitcher Camilo Doval has experienced a rough start to the season with two runs allowed in 2 2/3 innings coming into Sunday's game. However, the right-hander was able to hold his own versus the San Diego Padres. Doval struck out the side while working around a two-out single by Jackson Merrill. It's still early in the season, but it's nice to see Doval putting together a solid outing. He has been one of the more reliable options at the closer spot over the last few years.
San Francisco Giants closer Camilo Doval tossed another scoreless inning in Tuesday's loss versus the Los Angeles Dodgers. Doval allowed two hits in the contest, with no walks or strikeouts. The fireballer has now thrown four innings this spring and allowed just three hits with two walks and five strikeouts. The 26-year-old appeared in 69 games for the Giants in 2023 and recorded 39 saves with 87 strikeouts in 67 2/3 innings. A steady force at the end of games, Doval can safely be selected as a Top-10 closer option in all formats.

San Francisco Giants closer Camilo Doval racked up 39 saves in 2023, enough to finish tied for the most in the National League and only five off of the Major League lead. The All-Star closer also logged six wins, a 2.93 ERA, 1.14 WHIP, and 87 strikeouts in 67.2 innings pitched in 69 appearances. Doval threw his cutter slightly more often last season compared to 2022 but to much greater effect, resulting in a .175 batting average against, possibly a result of his aiming the pitch up further in the zone than he had in his previous seasons. In 2023, the 26-year-old reduced his walk rate to 9.3% and improved his strikeout rate to 31%. Most of Doval's other advanced metrics from 2023 fell in line with his established track record making him one of the game's more consistent options as a relief pitcher. His ADP of 52.71 makes him the fifth closer off the board where he provides better value there than those reached for in the thirties and forties.
