Chase Brown News
Cincinnati Bengals running back Chase Brown remains the No. 2 option out of the backfield after the team opted not to select any competition in the NFL Draft. Cincinnati replaced Joe Mixon with Zack Moss last March, and while it seemed like they could upgrade their backfield in the draft, that wasn't the case. Instead, it appears Moss will be Cincinnati's primary running back, barring a surprise signing or trade. Paul Dehner Jr. of The Athletic indicates that Moss has a leg up over Brown heading into the summer, including on third downs. This isn't necessarily a surprise given that Moss looked great in Indianapolis last year, but Brown also flashed promise as a rookie, totaling 335 yards and a touchdown. He enters the summer as Moss' backup but could push for more snaps with a strong camp.
Cincinnati Bengals running back Chase Brown had 43 yards off 11 carries in Sunday's win over the Browns. He added one catch for 10 yards. The Bengals were eliminated from playoff contention after the Week 17 loss to the Chiefs. However, Cincinnati wanted to end the year with a winning record. Brown's 11 attempts were the most of his career. Although he couldn't find the end zone for the second time this season, he still had a decent year as Joe Mixon's backup. At any rate, the 23-year-old should at least remain the No. 2 running back on the depth chart, so he'll draw interest from fantasy managers during drafts ahead of Week 1 for insurance purposes. Of course, the Bengals should strongly consider keeping Joe Mixon on the roster, even more so since he had 12 touchdowns this season. Yet, Brown's outlook could improve even more if he finds himself atop the depth chart heading into the 2024-25 campaign.
Cincinnati Bengals rookie running back Chase Brown didn't do a whole lot in the team's Week 17 loss to the Kansas City Chiefs on the road. Brown remained the clear backup to Joe Mixon once again and was even out-carried by quarterback Jake Browning seven to three. On his three rushing attempts, Brown had only five yards and caught both of his targets for an additional 23 yards. The 23-year-old only played only one more snap than Trayveon Williams and just 15% of the snaps. The Bengals have gotten Brown more involved in their offense in recent weeks and he's capitalized on a few big plays, mainly on screens. However, Brown has yet to carve out a big enough role behind Mixon to warrant weekly starting consideration in fantasy lineups.
