Nick Bosa News
The Athletic's Matt Barrows identifies defensive end as the San Francisco 49ers' biggest offseason need in 2024, although offensive tackle is another big need given left tackle Trent Williams' age (35) and the fact that right tackle Colton McKivitz gave up a team-high nine sacks in 2023. But right now the Niners have just one edge rusher in Nick Bosa, which isn't good, considering their defense is based on getting pressure on opposing quarterbacks. Their other defensive ends -- Chase Young, Clelin Ferrell and Randy Gregory -- aren't signed for this season. Their other defensive ends -- Drake Jackson and Robert Beal Jr. -- are unproven, so San Francisco would be wise to give Bosa some more help through either free agency or the upcoming NFL draft.
According to ESPN's Adam Schefter, San Francisco 49ers defensive end Nick Bosa was activated ahead of Sunday's opener against the Pittsburgh Steelers and will play. The All-Pro, who recently signed a record-breaking five-year, $170 million deal, has been back with the team for only a few days. However, the latest news is certainly positive, as his presence in Week 1 enhances the overall effectiveness of the 49ers defense. Bosa has had a remarkable career since entering the league, totaling 156 tackles and 43 sacks in 51 regular-season appearances. Although his snaps may be limited versus the Steelers, he is still a must-start IDP option.
San Francisco 49ers defensive end Nick Bosa intends to play on Sunday against the Pittsburgh Steelers. The pass-rusher, who agreed to a record-breaking five-year, $170 million contract extension on Wednesday, has been back with the team for only a few days. However, despite uncertainty surrounding his workload, his presence is undoubtedly positive for the overall outlook of the 49ers defense. Bosa has been dominant since entering the league in 2019, totaling 156 tackles, 43 sacks, and eight forced fumbles in 51 games.
