15 DFS Golf Picks for the ZoZo Championship

Daily Fantasy Golf Tips

Justin Thomas again showed his game’s good fit for The CJ Cup as he won it again last week to make it twice in three years, and was two strokes clear of Danny Lee this past Sunday. This week we see a brand new tournament on the PGA Tour as a good number of the best players in the world will tee it up in Chiba, Japan, for the ZoZo Championship where players will compete for the $9.75M in prize money.

This week will be a bit more challenging than normal as we don’t have any past year’s results to go on so we are really focusing on current form and key stats. 78 players are in the field for the event this week, and we will again see no cut line, so it’s another good week to enjoy your lineups getting 432 holes of play barring any withdraws.

Accordia Golf Narashino Country Club is the host course for this week’s ZoZo Championship – it’s a short 7,041 yards in length, a par 70, and the greens are bentgrass. Some of the key stats to examine this week are Stroke Gained: Tee to Green, Strokes Gained: Approach, Scrambling Gained, Bogeys Avoided, and Performance in Asia (it’s rare to see this one).

Let’s get to my picks this week – my top 10 players to pay up for are included and 5 value picks (in no particular order), plus I include player salaries for both DraftKings and FanDuel.

10 Players Who Are Worth Paying Up For This Week

Justin Thomas (Salary: DraftKings – $11,800, FanDuel – $12,200) – Kicked off his 2019-2020 season with a 4th and followed that up last week with the big win at -20. He has two wins in his last four starts and could make it three in his last five starts this week.

Rory McIlroy DFS.jpgRory McIlroy (Salary: DraftKings – $11,500, FanDuel – $12,300) – The FedEx Cup winner from last season is making his PGA Tour debut this week. He had a 9th and a 26th on the Euro Tour last month.

Xander Schauffele (Salary: DraftKings – $10,400, FanDuel – $11,100) – The small field specialist has three wins in his career for events that fall into that category, and his mom grew up in Japan so he might be extra motivated this week to win for her.

Joaquin Niemann (Salary: DraftKings – $8,200, FanDuel – $9,100) – Really like Niemann on any given week and especially this week at his good price points. Won in the first tournament of the season at The Greenbrier and is coming off a 12th last week at The CJ Cup.

Hideki Matsuyama (Salary: DraftKings – $10,700, FanDuel – $11,200) – Japan’s best player should be very driven to win this week in his native country. He’s coming off a 3rd last week and had a 16th in his previous start. I will have Matsuyama in a good number of my lineups this week and you should too!

Paul Casey (Salary: DraftKings – $10,100, FanDuel – $10,700) – Won on the European Tour earlier last month and should put up a solid result in his first start on the PGA Tour this season. Last time we saw him in North America he finished 5th at The Tour Championship.

Gary Woodland (Salary: DraftKings – $9,500, FanDuel – $10,300) – Woodland finally had a big performance last week as he finished 3rd after going 65-66 on the weekend. I will again ride him this week and like his salary numbers as well.

Sungjae Im (Salary: DraftKings – $8,800, FanDuel – $9,700) – The workhorse is at it again this season as he’s already played in four tournaments, has finished no worse than 49th, and was runner up at the Sanderson Farms Championship late last month.

Tommy Fleetwood (Salary: DraftKings – $9,800, FanDuel – $10,400) – Continues to play well over the last few months and had a decent finish last week in South Korea finishing 20th.

Viktor Hovland (Salary: DraftKings – $9,400, FanDuel – $10,000) – Between the PGA Tour and European Tour over the last month he has a 10th, an 11th, and was 31st last week. He consistently finishes well – there’s a lot to like about the Norweigan.

5 Good Value Pickups

Ryan Palmer (Salary: DraftKings – $6,900, FanDuel – $7,900) – The solid ball striker was at it again last week finishing 12th and had a 37th at The Shriners earlier this month. Palmer is a very good value play right now.

Corey Conners (Salary: DraftKings – $7,200, FanDuel – $8,200) – Missed the cut in his first start of the season but has made up for that bad result with a 13th and a 12th over his last two starts. Conners is one of the best tee to green players in the world.

Rory Sabbatini (Salary: DraftKings – $7,100, FanDuel – $8,200) – Had a 10th two weeks ago at the Italian Open on the European Tour and was 31st last week at The CJ Cup. Sabbatini is dependable to produce results and is often a good value on any given week.

Ian Poulter (Salary: DraftKings – $7,500, FanDuel – $8,700) – Played well last week to earn 16th and should have a top 20 again this week if he continues to plays to his strengths.

Si Woo Kim (Salary: DraftKings – $6,500, FanDuel – $7,600) – Really like what he did in his native country last week with a 26th. Could have been much better but had a 74 in round three otherwise he was under 70 in his other three rounds.

Enjoy the DFS lineups building experience, try to take in some of the action in Japan, and good luck with getting some lineups into the money this week!
