The AT&T Byron Nelson
Preview for the AT&T Byron Nelson: This event dates back to 1944 when it was originally named the Texas Victory Open and Byron Nelson himself won in the inaugural edition by a whopping ten strokes! The record was set just last year when K.H. Lee defended his title from 2021 by shooting a -26 – one stroke clear of Jordan Spieth. Winners of the AT&T Byron Nelson over the past five editions include K.H. Lee in 2022, K.H. Lee in 2021, 2020’s tournament was canceled because of the pandemic, Sung-hoon Kang in 2019, Aaron Wise in 2018, and Billy Horschel in 2017.
Tournament purse: The prize money for this week’s event is $9.5M, the winner collects $1.71M, and also earns himself 500 FedEx Cup points.

- Which 10 players does my custom model like the most? Scottie Scheffler, Mark Hubbard, Jordan Spieth, Matt Kuchar, Aaron Rai, Christiaan Bezuidenhout, Tyrrell Hatton, Tom Kim, Michael Kim, and Brandon Wu.
- Which 10 players gained the most strokes total (minimum 8 rounds) at this event since 2018? We have only had two tournaments on this course, so I’m just using the TPC Craig Ranch data. K.H. Lee, Jordan Spieth, Scott Stallings, Hideki Matsuyama, Matt Kuchar, Seamus Power, Ryan Palmer, Joseph Bramlett, Vince Whaley, and Brice Garnett.
All the best in your journey to win or at least be in the money in some contests this week – here are (in no particular order) 15 DFS golf picks on DraftKings (DK), plus I also include player salaries for DK. I consistently provide recent and seasonal finishes for each of my picks, their performances at the event over the last five years, and add in some valuable data.
15 Players Who Are Either High-Potential or Solid-Value Plays This Week – Get Them Into Your DFS Lineups
Scottie Scheffler (Salary: DraftKings – $11.1K) – Pretty much every time he plays now he finishes top 10 or just outside of it. He has finished T12 or better in 12 straight events with two wins, a 2nd, a T3, and five other top 10’s. Scheffler’s ball-striking is ridiculous, he’s quite solid around the green, and his putter has been cold over his last five starts but he still won THE PLAYERS Championship four starts ago gaining a mere 0.11 strokes putting but 17+ strokes between ball-striking and around the green. He has lost more than 3 strokes putting on these greens over the last two years but finished T15 here a year ago, so he’s a mega-threat to win this week if he’s just a field-average putter. AT&T Byron Nelson finishes over the last five years: 2022 – T15, 2021 – T47, and 2019 – T35.
Jordan Spieth (Salary: DraftKings – $10.6K) – Recently withdrew due to injury, do not use him! Spieth has been fantastic on this track with two top 9’s since 2021 including runner-up last year and only lost by a stroke. He missed the cut last week at the Wells Fargo Championship, but I view that as a positive so he could get back to Texas earlier and get properly prepared for this week. Prior to last week, he had three top 4’s in four starts and was sound throughout his bag during those events. AT&T Byron Nelson finishes over the last five years: 2022 – 2nd, 2021 – T9, 2019 – T29, and 2018 – T21.
Hideki Matsuyama (Salary: DraftKings – $9.8K) – We haven’t seen Matsuyama in a month but he has three top 16’s in his last four starts including a 5th at THE PLAYERS Championship where he gained strokes across the board. He had a T3 here last year thanks to gaining 11.13 strokes ball-striking and he putted well also. AT&T Byron Nelson finishes over the last five years: 2022 – T3, 2021 – T39, 2019 – T23, and 2018 – T16.
Tom Kim (Salary: DraftKings – $9.6K) – Kim is a consistent finisher with three top 23’s in his last four starts if you include the Zurich Classic where he and his partner finished T7, and he had a T16 at The Masters last month. His T17 in 2022 is notable since he gained 5.68 strokes on approach and lost 0.75 strokes putting, so there’s certainly room for improvement, especially given he was pretty much a 0 off the tee and has gained in the stat category in three straight measured events and five out of his last 6 starts, as well. AT&T Byron Nelson finishes over the last five years: 2022 – T17.
K.H. Lee (Salary: DraftKings – $9.3K) – Lee hasn’t lost on this course in the two years that this tournament has been hosted here and so he’s the player to beat this week despite Scottie, Jordan, and others breathing down his neck. His stats here are absolutely insane with strokes gained across the board in both starts and he gained 15.34 strokes total in 2021 and 14.14 strokes total last year. He’s coming off a T8 last week, but do note that he gained 6.65 strokes with his putter. I highly doubt he will threepeat this week, but a top 10 is certainly possible given his dominance at this venue. AT&T Byron Nelson finishes over the last five years: 2022 – Won, 2021 – Won, and 2019 – T72.
Matt Kuchar (Salary: DraftKings – $9.0K) – The 40-something fan favorite is on a nice little roll right now with four straight top 23’s including a T3 at the Valero Texas Open and a 9th at the WGC Dell Match Play. Kuchar has been solid on this track too with two top 17’s including his T12 last year and gained strokes in all major stat categories during both years. AT&T Byron Nelson finishes over the last five years: 2022 – T12, 2021 – T17, and 2018 – cut.
Seamus Power (Salary: DraftKings – $8.9K) – Power has had some spotty play since earlier this year but is coming off a T18 last week where every club in his bag was in good form, and he had a T9 here two years ago and a T17 last year thanks to stout short game play. AT&T Byron Nelson finishes over the last five years: 2022 – T17, 2021 – T9, 2019 – 79th, and 2018 – cut.
Brandon Wu (Salary: DraftKings – $7.8K) – Wu got on the radar recently with a T19 at THE PLAYERS Championship and he’s coming off a 3rd at the Mexico Open. It’s hard to say what he will do this week, but he did have a T51 last year because of his solid short game play, now he needs to clean up his ball-striking to have a chance at a top 20 finish. There is some hope for a decent ball-striking week as he has gained in three out of his last four starts. AT&T Byron Nelson finishes over the last five years: 2022 – T51.
Michael Kim (Salary: DraftKings – $7.5K) – He’s a regular performer with his ball-striking and putter, and isn’t half bad around the green. He’s coming off a 7th last week and has five top 30’s in his last seven starts. His experience here last year will surely help him navigate TPC Craig Ranch this week. AT&T Byron Nelson finishes over the last five years: 2021 – T67, 2019 – cut, 2018 – cut.
Dylan Wu (Salary: DraftKings – $7.4K) – Dylan, Brandon’s brother, is the more consistent player of the two and has a more complete game including being better with his ball-striking. He has two straight top 21’s and could certainly make it three straight this week if his putter stays hot and if he pops off the tee and on approach. AT&T Byron Nelson finishes over the last five years: 2022 – cut.
Nate Lashley (Salary: DraftKings – $7.2K) – He has finished between T27 to T39 over his last three starts, and had a T17 here last year through solid play throughout his bag. Not a bad option for your stars and scrubs lineups if you need a low to mid $7K player to round out a lineup or two. AT&T Byron Nelson finishes over the last five years: 2022 – T17, 2021 – cut, 2019 – T29, and 2018 – T32.
Jimmy Walker (Salary: DraftKings – $7.1K) – I didn’t expect to include Walker on my list this week but he had a T15 at the Mexico Open two starts ago and a T14 last week, and has four top 25’s over his last five starts. He usually plays fairly well in his home state of Texas, but did miss the cut here two years ago – expect better this time around. AT&T Byron Nelson finishes over the last five years: 2021 – cut, 2019 – cut, and 2018 – T6.
Brice Garnett (Salary: DraftKings – $6.9K) – The $6K range is pretty ugly this week, so try to avoid it if possible. Garnett isn’t a terrible option as he had a T8 four starts ago, has only missed one cut line over his last four starts, and two missed cuts over his last seven. He’s 2 for 2 at this event since 2021 and had a T15 last year. AT&T Byron Nelson finishes over the last five years: 2022 – T15 and 2021 – T47.
Joseph Bramlett (Salary: DraftKings – $7.9K) – Bramlett had a T10 at the Mexico Open two starts ago, is coming off a T40 last week, and pretty much gained 12 strokes ball-striking between those two starts. He had a T7 here two years ago and did it by gaining 7.33 strokes ball-striking and another 2.51 on the greens. AT&T Byron Nelson finishes over the last five years: 2022 – T51 and 2021 – T7.
Adam Scott (Salary: DraftKings – $9.2K) – Last but certainly not least, Scott is coming off a T5 last week gaining strokes across the board and was especially hot on approach and with his putter. He hasn’t missed a cut since last year’s PGA Championship and should better his T32 finish from last year if he can keep his Aussie mojo going from last week in North Carolina. AT&T Byron Nelson finishes over the last five years: 2022 – T32 and 2018 – T9.
