Dynasty Football
Quite the 180-degree turn from last week, huh?
A total of nine players scored more than 30 fantasy points this past week. Nine. The most so far this season. Another fortunate takeaway from Week 8 was that there were no major injuries. As fantasy managers and football fans, we always appreciate weeks like this.
Looking ahead, we’re into our first big week of Byes. In Week 9, we have six teams on a break, the most until Week 14 later in the season. Large Bye Weeks are a good pressure point in the NFL schedule for managers to make trades. Couple that with the injuries in recent weeks, and this is a perfect time to strike.
Weekly, I’m going to focus on some buy-low and sell-high players to help you reach your dynasty goals. With that being said, let’s get into it.
Buy-Low Trade Targets
Davante Adams – WR, Las Vegas Raiders
I don’t think we have to get too technical as to why Davante Adams is a buy-low player to target.
The 2022 season hasn’t gone the way Adams and the Raiders have hoped so far. However, that doesn’t mean Adams suddenly lost his talent. Throughout 7 games, he’s posted 38 receptions for 512 yards and 5 touchdowns. Still productive numbers for your fantasy team.
With regards to the Raiders, if the season continues on its current trajectory, there might be significant changes next season (looking at you, Derek Carr), and that could impact Adams for better or for worse in the coming seasons.
In saying that, with a player like Adams, you bet that talent will always win out. Try and get him on your team.
Wan’Dale Robinson – WR, New York Giants
In Dynasty formats, we’re focused on winning now but always have an eye on the future. Wan’Dale Robinson is a bet for both now and the future.
Through 4 games this season, he’s totaled 12 receptions on 16 targets for 107 yards and a touchdown. He’s fought through injury for the early part of his rookie year but finally seems to be healthy.
With Kadarius Toney on his way out of town and Sterling Shepard on Injured Reserve, Robinson’s time to establish himself is now. This may be the best time to get a promising 21-year-old rookie on your roster, for now, and beyond.
Joshua Palmer – WR, Los Angeles Chargers
Even though Joshua Palmer is a younger receiver, this move is all about the present. Usually, when we’re talking about young players, we’re looking at what they can do in the future. With Palmer, we’re looking at the next month or so.
Mike Williams, who was posting a 20.3 percent target share, is going to be out four weeks at minimum with a high-ankle sprain and Keenan Allen is struggling to return to full health after his most recent injury.
If you’re in a pinch and want to place your chips on a rested Justin Herbert, Palmer, who’s carrying a 16.7 percent target share and 81.4 percent snap share already, should see plenty of opportunities moving forward.
Sell-High Trade Suggestions
Leonard Fournette – RB, Tampa Bay Buccaneers
I think it’s safe to say that we weren’t expecting the Tampa Bay Buccaneers to be where they are right now.
It’s been a fairly up-and-down season for most of their offensive pieces and that includes Leonard Fournette. In addition to Fournette’s play, he’s in and around the age we look to offload running backs from our Dynasty rosters.
Over the last two weeks, Fournette has only had 17 total rushing attempts for 43 yards and a touchdown. The reason why I’ve put him in the sell-high category is that before your league’s trade deadline, you’re going to want to take what you can get.
We (think) this is Tom Brady’s final season, so we’re assuming that the Bucs are in for big changes next year. Get out from under this while you can.
Romeo Doubs – WR, Green Bay Packers
The Green Bay Packers sure are frustrating.
It’s next to impossible to pinpoint who Aaron Rodgers is going to target each week. It doesn’t help that the wide receiver group has been taking turns spending time on the injury list.
With Romeo Doubs being the healthiest receiver of the group, coming off a big game, try and sell high. After this season, especially if it continues down this path, there could be significant roster changes. Yes, that even includes a sudden retirement from Aaron Rodgers.
Take advantage of Doubs’ primetime performance against the Buffalo Bills and rid yourself of this headache.
Tony Pollard – RB, Dallas Cowboys
Speaking of frustration, the running back situation in Dallas sits close to the top of the list.
Cowboys Owner Jerry Jones loves himself some Ezekiel Elliot, and he doubled down this past weekend after Tony pollard’s big game in his absence. Last week I had Elliot in this section of the article so managers could capitalize on his touchdown. Now, I’ve reluctantly put Pollard here, but for other reasons than his big Week 8 performance.
Pollard is a talented football player, but it’s clear he’s not going to get the majority of the work as long as Elliot is on the roster. Unfortunately, in this situation, there’s no clear indication that in the coming seasons’ this will transition to Pollard’s full-time role.
In that case, I’m looking to flip him depending on your situation for either a younger option or a veteran player who can help you win now.
Redraft leagues are a sprint, dynasty leagues are a marathon. It’s important to stay level-headed and avoid making rash decisions based on week-to-week results. It’s more important to pick a direction, make a plan and stick to it. Stay tuned to FantasyData for weekly buy/sell options to keep you on track.
