FanDuel NHL DFS Picks for Wednesday the 6th
There are many benefits to using an NHL Optimizer when making daily fantasy lineups for DraftKings or Fanduel. FantasyData uses expert fantasy projections which creates an opportunity for spotting value in the cost when making your lineup. DFS sites do not adjust the prices of players of any slate once available, which means that if a player is ruled out from an injury the backup player’s price is not adjusted. Staying on top of all injuries can be a huge task, thankfully FantasyData’s team is making updates to their projections constantly to allow their subscribers an edge in finding the best players. All of our NHL player projections are fed into our NHL optimizer daily to allow the user the best possible DFS NHL Lineup.
Centers
Evgeni Malkin $7,400
Malkin and his Pittsburgh Penguins are facing off with the Lightning and they have struggled to defend this season. The Lightning have given up 3.5 goals against per game on average. Malkin will see plenty of opportunity on the powerplay and is a threat to score or set up his teammates. Malkin has 10 goals and 11 assists this season.
Jesperi Kotkaniemi $5,200
Carolina is taking on the Edmonton Oilers and I want pieces in this matchup. Both teams score and give up more than 3 goals per game on average so we could see some fireworks in this game. Kotkaniemi plays on the second line with a couple of good goal-scorers and gets time on the powerplay. He is a less costly option and should still see involvement in this contest.
Anthony Cirelli $4,100
Cirelli is coming off his best game where he scored two goals and notched himself 32 fantasy points. Cirelli isn’t necessarily known for his offense but he gives you a nice floor by averaging 8 fantasy points a game and he sees plenty of ice time.
Wingers
Jason Robertson $6,800
Robertson is a great playmaker, recording 22 points in 23 games so far this season. He is red hot right now, scoring 5 goals and recording 7 assists in his last 10 games. The optimizer loves Robertson in this matchup, scoring the second-highest value score of any winger for today’s slate of games. In what should be a tight contest with the Panthers, Robertson should have his fingerprints all over this game.
VALUE – Projected Value based on Fantasy Points per dollar ratio
Mark Stone $6,000
Stone is as solid as it gets for only a $6,000 DFS salary. He plays first-line minutes and is on the first powerplay unit. Maybe he’s not the flashiest player, but he creates for his teammates, goes to the corners, and battles in front of the net. Stone has 7 points in his last 10 games.
Andrei Svechnikov $5,500
Svechnikov is linemates with Kotkaniemi and I believe this is a good stack to have in this contest. The Oilers give up goals and Svechnikov is involved in plenty of goal-scoring opportunities. Through 15 games this season he has 11 points. Many of the Hurricanes wingers are around this price point but he is the least costly. He is too good of a player to be this cheap and the optimizer agrees, scoring him the third-best value of any winger.
Defensemen
Brent Burns $5,500
Burns has been on a nice roll in his last 10 games, notching 8 points. Burns is on the top defenseman pairing and the top powerplay unit. In his most recent game against the Oilers, he recorded 1 goal and 22 fantasy points.
Kris Letang $5,100
Letang is always on the ice, averaging just shy of 25 minutes of ice time per game. Through 24 games this season he has 13 points and is a +8. He has ample opportunity every game to contribute to a goal and that’s how you find value in the defense position in DFS.
Brandon Montour $4,800
Montour is one of my favorite plays of the day. He is cheap to put in the lineup and is heavily involved in the game. The Panthers play an in-your-face style of hockey and the defensemen are constantly pinching and applying pressure in the offensive zone. Montour missed the beginning of the season with a shoulder injury but he is good to go now. He is off to a slower start to this season with only 2 assists but last season he recorded 73 points so we know he has that offensive prowess that is so helpful in DFS lineups.
Goalie
Logan Thompson/ Jiri Patera
The Golden Knights and the Blues met just a few days ago and the final was 2-1 in the Blues favor. A low-scoring contest and the only game that has an over/ under of 5.5. The Blues average less than 3 goals for per game and the Golden Knights only allow 2.3 goals per game. A nice matchup for your DFS goalie. Thompson played on Monday so be sure to check closer to game time on who the starting goalie is.
