Fantasy Football Streaming Week 8
In Week 8, the streaming quarterback and tight end options look better than the streaming defense options outside of the Philadelphia Eagles, who most fantasy managers snatched up last week. With four teams on their bye week in the Texans, Washington Football Team, Cardinals, and Jaguars, there’s a good chance you’re streaming a quarterback this week. In Week 8, the Panthers face the Falcons, meaning we go back to the well with Teddy Bridgewater. You may find the streaming tight end options hanging around on the waiver wire. With that, let’s dive into the fantasy football Week 8 streaming picks.

Quarterbacks
Teddy Bridgewater vs. ATL
Teddy Bridgewater ranks as the top Week 8 streaming quarterback option since he faces the Falcons defense that allows the most fantasy points to quarterbacks. In Week 5, Bridgewater faced the Falcons and finished with 313 passing yards and two passing touchdowns. He scored 20.8 fantasy points and ranked 12th in Week 5. Bridgewater continues to put up high passing totals with 1,931 passing yards (No. 5) but lacks the touchdowns with eight through seven weeks (No. 24). Fire up Bridgewater as a top-12 streaming quarterback option in Week 8.
Derek Carr at CLE
Another underrated quarterback this season in Derek Carr, who just totaled 284 passing yards, two touchdowns, and one interception against a nasty Buccaneers defense. Through six games, Carr threw for 1,724 passing yards (No. 14), 13 passing touchdowns (No. 9), and 8.2 yards per attempt (No. 7). He throws touchdowns, pushes the ball down the field, and averages 19.4 fantasy points per game (No. 14).
So @coachdelrio knows what he speaks of. Said Derek Carr does’t like cold weather games. In games where temp is under 40 at kickoff.. here are his numbers:
0-4
152 Pass YPG
51% Comp pct
TD-Int (3-4)
9 Total QBRTemps at Arrowhead will be in the 30’s Sunday

However, there was a narrative about Carr struggling in cold weather when the temperature dropped below 50 degrees last year. The weather forecast in Cleveland over the weekend ranges from a low of 39 degrees to a high in the mid-50s. Regardless, with the way Carr is playing, he ranks as one of the better streaming quarterback options in Week 8.
Baker Mayfield vs. LV
To start the game last week, Baker Mayfield completed zero passes in five attempts and threw one interception. After that, Mayfield went off for 22 completions, 297 passing yards, and five touchdowns. Mayfield only threw four touchdowns once in his rookie year against the Bengals. The Raiders allow the 4th most fantasy points to quarterbacks with 23.5 fantasy points per game, and Mayfield is worth starting as a streamer once again. Even with Odell Beckham Jr. suffering a torn ACL, Mayfield can utilize the other weapons in Kareem Hunt and at tight end in Harrison Bryant and David Njoku, who we mention later. Mayfield should throw for about 250-275 passing yards with a couple of touchdowns.
Jimmy Garoppolo at SEA
With Jimmy Garoppolo, it’s about the weak matchup against the Seahawks, who allow the second-most fantasy points to quarterbacks. Last week against the Patriots, Garoppolo finished with 277 passing yards, zero touchdowns, and two interceptions. Although the Patriots defense isn’t as great as last year, they still rank 29th in fantasy points allowed to quarterbacks. If Garoppolo throws a couple of touchdowns with 270 passing yards, then expect him to finish around top-15 at quarterback. Even with Deebo Samuel injured and the running back carousel, Garoppolo ranks as a deep league streaming quarterback option in Week 8.
Tight Ends
Richard Rodgers vs. DAL
We know the Eagles offense runs through the tight end position in Zach Ertz and Dallas Goedert when healthy. However, with both players injured, Richard Rodgers led the Eagles in receiving on Thursday night with six catches on eight targets for 85 receiving yards. Rodgers is the last man standing and looks to take advantage of a juicy matchup against the Cowboys, who allow the eighth-most fantasy points to the tight end position. He ranks as the top streaming tight end option in Week 8.
Irv Smith Jr. at GB
Before the bye week, the Vikings gradually increased Irv Smith’s involvement and reached season highs in snap percentage, routes, and targets. Smith had a 72.5% snap share in Week 5 and an 81.6% snap share in Week 8, with 31 routes in both weeks. His production in both weeks totaled ten targets, eight receptions, 119 receiving yards. Smith finished top-15 amongst tight end in both weeks.

— PFF (@PFF) October 12, 2020
Granted that his best performances came against the Seahawks and Falcons defenses, but it’s optimistic to see the snap share and routes increase. Although the Packers present a difficult matchup and only allow 5.5 fantasy points per game (No. 25), they likely play from behind, meaning more passing volume. In the past two games, Kirk Cousins averaged 37.5 pass attempts while he averaged 25 pass attempts in the first four games. Trust Smith as one of the top Week 8 streaming tight end picks.
Harrison Bryant & David Njoku vs. LV
Austin Hooper underwent surgery for an appendix issue, meaning the Browns’ backup tight ends stepped up in Week 7. Potentially both Harrison Bryant and David Njoku have streaming tight end value in Week 8. Last week in a high scoring game against the Bengals, both Bryant and Njoku scored touchdowns. Bryant caught four of five targets for 56 receiving yards and two touchdowns while Njoku caught two passes for 20 yards and one touchdown.
Before this game, I would’ve recommended Njoku since we’ve seen past production with him. However, Bryant had an intriguing College Prospect Profile with a 26.2% College Dominator Rating (80th percentile), 14.1 yards per reception (68th percentile), and 19.4 Breakout Age (91st percentile). Although both Bryant and Njoku rank as riskier streaming picks in Week 8, both look like deep league options. Prioritize Bryant since he finished with a higher snap share in Week 7.
Jimmy Graham vs. NO
The entire Bears offense struggled on Monday night against the Rams, and Jimmy Graham finished with a weak PPR game of five catches for 31 receiving yards. However, he faces the Saints in Week 8, and they allow the second-most fantasy points to the tight end position at 12.6. Through six games, Graham’s season defines the tight end position outside of the top-5 in a nutshell. Graham ranks 6th with 22 receptions, 15th with 203 receiving yards, 5th with four touchdowns, and 9th with 11.0 points per game. With the weaker tight end matchup in Week 8, Graham expects to rack up a handful of receptions and likely fall into the endzone.
Streaming Defenses
Philadelphia Eagles vs. DAL
With the Cowboys likely down to their third-string quarterback in Ben DiNucci, fire up the Eagles as the top streaming defense pick in Week 8. The Cowboys offense went from one of the more potent offenses to lacking production and efficiency. As a team, the Eagles recorded three sacks in back-to-back games and recorded at least one sack in each game. With a banged-up offensive line for the Cowboys, expect the Eagles to pressure the quarterback and potentially cause turnovers.
Los Angeles Chargers at DEN
Over the past three games, the Chargers allowed over 32 points per game to the Buccaneers, Saints, and Jaguars. However, we’re hoping for a few sacks against a Broncos offensive line that ranks in the bottom ten in run blocking and pass protection, according to Football Outsiders. Even if the Chargers give up some points, which we don’t expect from the Broncos since they average 19.3 points per game (No. 28), they should pressure Drew Lock and cause turnovers. The Chargers rank as the second-best streaming defense pick in Week 8.
Green Bay Packers vs. MIN
In the first half of the Vikings last game before the bye against the Falcons, Kirk Cousins struggled and then salvaged his day in the second half and garbage time. The Packers rank 12th with 110 rushing yards allowed and 18th with 240.3 passing yards allowed, so overall middle of the pack. In Week 1, they allowed 34 points to the Vikings but racked up a couple of sacks and one interception. As mentioned earlier, it’s a less exciting week to use a streaming defense and prioritize the Eagles and Chargers over the Packers this week.
Tennessee Titans at CIN
We mentioned this last week with the Browns as a streaming defense option, and defenses continue to sack Joe Burrow. Teams sacked Burrow three or more times in five out of seven games with 15 sacks total against the Eagles and Ravens. According to Football Outsiders, the Bengals offensive line ranks in the bottom three in run blocking and pass protection. Similar to last week, the Bengals may put up points against the Titans, but we hope for a few sacks.
