Chicago White Sox reliever Alex McRae was sent to Triple-A Charlotte outright to make room on the 40-man roster. This was a corresponding move as the White Sox activated left-handed reliever Jace Fry (back) from the 60-day IL and sent him down to Triple-A Charlotte as well. McRae put up a 4.50 ERA over just two innings out of the White Sox pen this season.
The Pittsburgh Pirates have called up pitcher Alex McRae from the Triple-A Indianapolis Indians. McRae has 80 strikeouts in 84 innings pitched, but walked 39 batters. He had a .290 batting average against and a 1.58 WHIP. Pittsburgh also reinstated Michael Feliz from the disabled list Saturday. To make room for these two pitchers, the Pirates have optioned Dovydas Neverauskas and Josh Smoker to Triple-A.
