Texas Rangers outfielder Carlos Tocci will get the start in center field on Wednesday. With Joey Gallo just three days removed from missing time through injury, the Rangers are taking him out of center field for a days rest on Wednesday. Tocci being in the lineup in place of Gallo is an extremely big downgrade for DFS. Tocci's numbers this year include a .200 batting average, an .040 ISO and a .223 wOBA. Those numbers offer absolutely no upside for using Tocci in DFS and therefore he should be avoided on Wednesday.
Texas Rangers outfielder Carlos Tocci is starting in center field Friday. With Delino DeShields back on the 10-day disabled list, Tocci will takeover as the starting center fielder for the foreseeable future. However, Tocci has very limited fantasy value, having struggled at the plate this season. In 96 plate appearances, Tocci has a .174 batting average with zero home runs and zero steals. At this stage there is no reason to add Tocci, even in AL-only leagues, as right now he is providing no fantasy value.
Texas Rangers outfielder Carlos Tocci returns to the lineup on Monday, playing center field. Tocci received Sunday off, but will come back in with Drew Robinson heading to the bench. Tocci has managed to get his batting average up to .159, which while poor is significantly better than it was earlier in the season. However, the biggest problem with Tocci is his lack of counting stats. This season, he has four runs, three RBI, zero home runs and zero steals. Right now, despite the regular playing time, Tocci as no value in any format for fantasy owners.
Carlos Tocci Sitting, Delino DeShields Starting Sunday
Texas Rangers outfielder Carlos Tocci will receive his first day off since taking over the starting role Tuesday. In his place Delino DeShields will get the start and hit ninth. DeShields struggles at the plate saw him demoted to Triple-A on Tuesday. The interest here is whether DeShields can reclaim his starting role or if the Rangers are going to stick with Tocci in the short-term. Whichever of these is starting, they have very little impact for DFS, as they usually both ninth when in the lineup, and DeShields has just a .066 ISO and Tocci is at just .036.
Texas Rangers outfielder Carlos Tocci now faces pressure from the recently recalled Delino DeShields for the starting center fielder spot. Tocci took over in center field when DeShields was optioned on Tuesday. Since then Tocci has had his best spell of the season register five hits in 16 at-bats, with three runs scored and two RBI. However, in that time Tocci has been caught stealing twice, which will undo some of the good work he has done at the plate. The situation in center field is a strange one, with both hitters having struggled throughout the season. Unfortunately, even if Tocci does get the nod his lack of power and so-far poor base running has left him with limited fantasy value. Right now Tocci should only be owned in deep leagues, even with his current mini hot-streak.
Texas Rangers outfielder Carlos Tocci is drawing his second straight start against the Oakland Athletics on Wednesday. Delino DeShields was optioned to Triple-A Round Rock after struggling through the first couple of months this season. DeShields should be dropped in all standard fantasy leagues right now. Tocci had two hits on Tuesday and could quickly become a regular in the Arlington outfield. He's batting ninth and playing center field against veteran righty Edwin Jackson. Tocci isn't an option in DFS, but he could become an AL-only league option very soon.
Delino DeShields Sitting, Carlos Tocci Starting Sunday
Texas Rangers outfielder Delino DeShields will receive a day off on Sunday. In his place, outfielder Carlos Tocci will start in center field. DeShields improved his contact skills in June to hit .267, but is hitting just .100 so far in July. However, Carlos Tocci is hitting an abysmal .067 in the major leagues this season. In addition, he has yet to register a home run or a stolen base and has just one run and one RBI to his name. He offers absolutely no value as a DFS play, given his poor performance at the plate and hitting ninth on Sunday.
Carlos Tocci Starting, Delino DeShields Sitting Wednesday
Texas Rangers outfielder Carlos Tocci will start in center field for just the ninth time this season on Wednesday. Tocci has struggled in the major leagues in 2018 with a .077 batting average, and he has yet to record a single steal, home run, RBI or run scored. However, the Rangers need to get Delino DeShields time off the field occasionally, and Tocci is the best option for them defensively. Tocci has no real fantasy value in any format until his bat begins to heat up again. However, the Rangers have to keep Tocci on the active roster, as he was a Rule 5 selection, meaning he should get opportunities as the season progresses.
Texas Rangers outfielder Carlos Tocci was activated from the disabled list on Saturday. Tocci pinch ran for Nomar Mazara in Saturday's game, and nearly cost the Rangers a chance to win the game with some overly aggressive running in the ninth innings. The Rangers had to activate Tocci, who had run out of rehab time, or risk losing him due to the rule 5 rules. Tocci's fantasy value remains low, despite being activated, as his bat has been ice cold this season. Combined between the major leagues and Triple-A, Tocci has just eight hits in 58 plate appearances. For the time being Tocci will mostly be a defensive replacement or a pinch runner late in games, which makes him a tough player to use for fantasy purpose.
Texas Rangers outfielder Carlos Tocci is nearing the end of his rehab assignment. Tocci will play in the 20th game of his assignment over the weekend, forcing the Rangers to make a decision. Tocci is hitting .095 in 23 plate appearances at Triple-A, having hit just .080 in 28 plate appearances for the Rangers prior to injury. The Rangers may choose to activate Tocci, given their current backup plan at center field is Joey Gallo. Tocci, a Rule 5 pick, will have to be added to the major league roster or offered back to Philadelphia. Wherever Tocci ends up, he is unlikely to play regularly and at this point has very little fantasy value, even in AL-only formats.
